Interestingly, he as the writer, saw the main point to be Gabrielle's decision to let Crassus be killed. I've always seen the main point as the battle of wits between Xena, Caesar and Pompey. All this proves, I guess, is that there's something in a typical Xena ep for everybody. I did greatly like the way the plot was fitted into history without doing much damage to it. In particular, I loved the point that the only people who knew that Crassus was being executed were Caesar, Pompey and possibly Brutus - and they had good reasons for not telling anybody, ever. Mendala (I wish we'd seen more of her) has very striking looks (as Steve Sears also noticed). Katrina Browne - she also played Thalassa in Shark Island Prison, and Siri and Haleh in two Hercules episodes. And I very much liked Jeremy Callaghan's portrayal of Pompey - half-amused and always ready to take advantage of the situation. I found him a much more interesting character than Caesar, who was just plain oily. Both of them were as treacherous as each other. But Pompey had a gritty streak to him (not sure if I can put it any better than that). cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
