He mentioned Ed Norton, Robin and Tonto. He says that Entertainment Weekly had a list of 50 greatest sidekicks. Dansby writes that "The recent ones were sidekicks, sure, but they're also connivers and whiners and schemers and dreamers. They're self-servers, malcontents hungry for attention, throwing their mugs into the frame when an elbow would do." He says that "some of the EW list are of the classic cut." He mentions Watson, Sam Gamgee and Chewbacca as "classic" sidekicks and Iago and Brutus as sidekicks who turned against their betters. He mentions two other Shakespearean sidekicks -- Falstaff and poor Yorick. Did anyone see the EW issue? I take it Gabrielle did not make it, or we would have heard of it.
