Perhaps because the Chakram address was on a copy line? Texena asked: > Have heard OF the series but know nothing about it. Could somebody > fill me in on the background and what the finale is likely to be > about? Hey Texena-very nice to see you posting again. (Heck, nice to see ANYBODY posting again.) The L word is a cable show about a group of lesbian friends (and enemies and frenemies). Most of my online lesbian friends find it hilariously bad, but most of them tune in. This is pretty much what Liz Friedman said about it at the con last year-that it's an awful show, the writing is lousy and yet she can't stop watching. The series has been on the air for years and I think folks were saying this is the last year-not totally sure on that. I have caught about two episodes in the past and they were okay-I had no idea of who the characters are and what their story is. One thing that struck me was that in both eps I saw, there were fairly graphic love scenes. Yes, definitely cable. I'm going to put in spoiler space for what I've found out on Lucy's official yahoogroup list about Lucy's appearance. There's significant plot points below. S p o i l e r S p a c e Lucy is in the first episode this year (which I don't think has run yet-naw, I'm sure it hasn't because no one has reviewed it). There's a party at the house of one of the main characters and another one of the main characters is dead and the police are called in. And who should be the police investigating officer but Lucy Lawless playing Mary Beth Duffy-possibly Mary Beth Lacey's daughter - married? formerly married?, or her goddaughter, or maybe Cagney's daughter - but the sweet reference is there. And just as another aside, I grin over how many of Lucy's guest characters seem to be of Irish descent. Shannon McMahon, Maddy Rierdon, Kathleen Clayton (well, at least the Kathleen part), Sarah McFee (from The Black Stallion) and Mother Superior (an Irish name if I ever heard one). I always wonder, did they do the name first or did they get one look at Lucy Ryan and maybe changed the name? Or do Irish names of female characters bring Lucy to mind? Or does Lucy's agent go after Irish named characters for her to play. It's an interesting conundrum. Anyway, this whole season is apparently back flashes leading up to the night of the murder and the finding out whodunnit and Lucy is supposed to be in the last episode also. Hopefully she'll have a fair amount of screen time. KT ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
