I disagree a little with those who said Lucy wasn't convincing as the damsel in distress. Actually I thought when you first see her see is very convincing but in each subsequent scenes involving her "damsel" seems less and less convincing and that was probably a well thought out reveal. At first the audience like Michael believes Evelyn story and is sympatric. When Michael meets her again on the beach she seems a little off - just a tad too flirty with Michael and the audience is now clued in that something is wrong and now suspicious. The next time we see Evelyn our suspicion are confirmed by Fiona who also sees through Evelyn's more obvious play acting and though she is not quite sure what's wrong she is upset that Michael has seemingly fallen for this woman who just a bit to sweet and vulnerable. Lucy has to be more obvious about being deceptive here so that Fiona doesn't just look like a jealous bitch - Fiona must be justified in disliking Evelyn. I thought it work out very well. Now when Lucy turns bad she if of course better. I liked take on the professional hit woman. Well dressed, sophisticated, casually cruel with just a touch of regret at the end. Nice. I however I do wish Evelyn could have escaped - she would have made nice returning nemesis for Michael to outwit form time to time. In fact I was surprised that such a skilled assassin wouldn't have back up plan just in case things went wrong ( I also though she should have been able to kill the CPA and Michael at the cabin but then no more Burn Notice). BTW isn't Lucy right handed-not left handed? It seemed to me that was a bit of a plot hole (she was holding the rifle in her left hand but it seemed awkward). I agree with your assessment that Lucy began to show hints of being more than just a "damsel in distress." We had to know that Fi had some reason for not trusting Evelyn. I watched the episode a second time because I was taping it for a friend. I thought her acting was much stronger in my second viewing. As you say, Lucy had to telegraph that something was not quite right with the character. It was subtle enough, however, that it was still a surprise when we found she was an assassin, which is a good thing. The juxtaposition of what we thought we knew and what we found out about the character contributes to the tongue-in-cheek irony of the show. (Remember the subtitles? First she was The Client, then The Assassin.) As for Evelyn's left-handedness - Lucy is right-handed, but the character was not. It was important that the character be left-handed so Michael would know where to look for her to find her. If you recall, he knew she preferred roof-tops over windows and a right-hand angle for a shot because she is left-handed. It helped him locate the building and probably he could calculate how much time he had to get to the roof top. It was a significant plot point. bd - -----Original Message----- From: owner-chakram-refugees@smoe.org [mailto:owner-chakram-refugees@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Cheryl Ande Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2007 11:55 PM To: chakram-refugees@smoe.org Subject: [chakram-refugees] Burn Notice Spoilers I just saw Burn Notice and I thought Lucy was quite good in this role.
