Bruce Campbell has a co-starring role. > And what ever happened to Footballer Wives?? Did it not make it > out of the starting gate (with that title, I didn't expect it to....;P )? The title was the same as the popular British show. ABC dropped the series with its tail between it's legs because the NFL didn't want the series to show them in a bad light and pretty much threaten to pull football from ABC. LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME. The series is being shopped around to cable currently. > Roach, at the risk of sacriledge, I do agree with you about > "boredom and lameness" in some of LL's guest roles. SO FRELLING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! She's BRILLIANT in it. It's anything BUT a Xena role. And, though the movies themselves were lame, I enjoyed Lucy's performances in "Locusts" and "Vampire Bats". "Veronica Mars" and a moment on two on "Tarzan" though were the only tv guest spots that I enjoyed (I did NOT like "Tarzan", just a moment or two of Lucy's performance). But, generally, no, she hasn't been doing things as cool as Xena. *SIGH* Julie "XT" Ruffell www.bitchofrome.com "I don't do this to die. It had some good dialogue, some characters who should have been good but were mostly just wet, some good situations that just didn't have the 'bite' or tension that the same scenes would have in Xena... I don't quite know why, but it just didn't 'click' as far as I was concerned. The best ep IMO was 'Heart of Gold' (no not an indirect reference to Zaphod Beeblebrox's starship in the HitchHiker's Guide series, in fact I doubt if Joss has ever read HitchHiker (he said, flashing his sci-fi-geek credentials)), but an ep that starred Mindy Clarke (Velasca) as brothel madam. If th show wasn't up to its potential (like Firefly IMO) then the movie has a much better chance of succeeding IMO. The Farscape - PK Wars tele-movie was a slight disappointment to me - it certainly wasn't _bad_, in fact it was pretty good - but I think my expectations were so high after the untimely loss of Season 5 thatthe movie just couldn't live up to it. >> As to Xena - Xena ended when it was ready to end. Xena died so often that her death in FIN is > certainly not an insurmountable problem. Well, personally I felt that a movie (even a good one) would detract from the impact of the finale. Which, if you think FIN was a great finale (as I do) would be a Bad Thing. However, that was then... I think enough time has passed by now that that wouldn't necessarily happen, if (as you say) the movie is done right. But it would have to be a good, powerful movie, not a 'just another episode' or a 'warrior of the week' exercise. I also have in mind the large number of FIN-hating fans who specifically wanted a movie to 'prove what a mistake FIN was' (or prove it was a lie, or prove it never happened yadda yadda... in other words, specifically to spit on the finale) - obviously they were whistling in the wind because nobody in Renpics - and I include Lucy and ROC in this - - was ever going to give them that. > And you don't spit on it, you take it into the canon--Xena would be > different and would have to act differently after FIN-she's finished > with her atonement quest, so they'd need either a new story engine or > they'd just have to do some stand-alone swash and buckle stuff. > > Whatever happens next has to honor FIN, absolutely. And happily, they knew that too-and showcased her, > making her character's journey a huge part of the storyline. And now > putting her up for best supporting actress. YAY! Yeah. Love that! And by the way, BSG may not be a chick flick, but just look at the number of strong female characters in it - (okay, half of them are Cylons, but so what, they're the most interesting ones ) - Six, Sharon, d'Anna, Starbuck... and of course the Pres, who I really don't like much because she behaves too much like the men in the series - arbitrary and capricious, IMO ;) Chick flicks may be unfashionable as you said in one of the bits I snipped, but strong women seem to be as popular as they could possibly be. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I love plenty of other characters - though not all of them are TV characters. Actually my TOP fav characters of all time list is: 1) X23 (from X-Men comics) 2) Andrea Flores (from the Tenebrea trilogy - novels) 3) Livia 4) Xena 5) B'Elanna Torres (from ST:V) 6) Rogue (from X-Men comics) As you can see, only three from TV and two from Xena.
