So I must not be the only faithful Xenite wearing the letters off the Redial button. But we need to persevere, for-- tho I don't recall it being mentioned on the show-- \this/ Friday, according to the program description in the newspaper, \2/ performers leave. Young" Subject: [chakram-refugees] OS: Celeb Duets The *really* interesting thing about Fri. night's show was that the song LL sang with Dionne Warwick (I'll Never Fall In Love This Way Again) was on her album "Dionne", which was produced and arranged by Barry, and which was nominated for a Grammy (like all the other albums Barry produced for other people). Truly, one of those "6 degrees of separation" moments--for me, anyway. ;) I'm still not very impressed with LL's ability to sustain a song live. Her voice tends to get thin and unsupported, and I can't figure out if it's when she goes high or low, because it happens both times. She seems OK when she gets into her "comfortable" register, but then bombs out when she gets out of that. Again, the "blonde bombshell" look didn't quite impress me (though several folks locally I talked to--all men--*loved* it, of course) because it looked out of place with Dionne's dress, and again seemed to be soliciting the "sex" votes. I was surprised when they said LL got the most votes of anyone, and my immediate reaction was "because of XWP", and not because of her singing. Other people locally told me the same thing. I'd rather have her succeed on the merits of her singing, rather than on the merits of her XWP reputation, or because of her sexiness.
