But IMO her best role was as Nebula. Pity Nebula never met Xena. She met Ares though - "Whoa mama!" Yeah, agreed. IMO the other characters were most of them wimpy, yet several of them got more screen time - what a waste! > Thank you. I agree completely. Well, the _only_ time River changed from a basket case into anything useful was when she calmly shot several baddies one after another. But it took about ten eps before she did that and she never did anything like it again. All the rest of the time she was just a flaky liability. And Zoe, who coulda been really good, hardly got to do anything. Heck, Hercules treated its female co-stars** way, waaay better than Firefly did! (**Such as, Nebula, Morrigan, even the occasional female guests like Nemesis and The Enforcer and the various characters played by Lisa Chappell for example) > Thankfully, Gina and Zoe were wicked cool in the Firefly movie. But, Sarge was my fav. ;) Hmm, yes, I think Amarice was Jennifer's best role by far. I was very disappointed when she got written out to go to 2525. On the whole, I'd happily forego 2525 to have seen Amarice in a lot more eps. Which is not to say I dislike 2525 - it had a lot of original ideas and heaps of potential in where to take the storyline (much more original than Firefly, for example). I feel the potential wasn't fully realised, partly due to the limitations of a 20-minute episode length which prevailed for most of the series. For example, the episode where Cleo was cloned as a destroyer (who was unconscious that she was one). Who would have thought a line like "Thanks - for the memories" could have been so deliciously ironic (and it almost reduced me to tears), or that Mauser's final comment - "Offline" - could have been so poignant? Still, certainly can't blame Jennifer Sky for passing up an occasional guest star role, for the name role in a new series. > >made me wonder (yes i'm about to say this word out loud...oh my : 0 ) that > > there might have been a bit of racism running on the show firefly - ? > > I don't think so. Firefly had some good moments, some neat dialogue, but it seemed like Joss didn't really know how to use it to its full effect. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. To be frank being well adjust and in a stable relationship doesn't make for the most interesting character. Having said that I have to say I loved Firefly and was really mad when it was cancelled. The show never had a chance to fully develop its charcters or story line. As Julie has said FOX has killed a lot of potental great series because it just doesn'y let the shows build an audience. It is almost perverse in how it will put on a show with an unigue premiss and then have no faith in it. Any I don't hold out too much hope for Standoff - it looks dreadful. I think Gina is going to be the best actor in the bunch but she is going to be stuck with a very unrewarding role. LOL! Yep! It's true. Frakes and Sirtis played MAJOR roles and the leading villain in the series, Demona and Xanatos. Michael Dorn played Cold Stone (numerous eps) Kate Mulgrew played Queen Titiania (yes, Shakepeare's Titiania) who was Fox's mother, Anastasia Renard, (so she had human form) (numerous eps) Brent Spiner - I challenge you to find him. ;) He played Puck. You will NOT reconize him. I'd be shocked if you do. (numerous eps) Colm Meany played Mr. Dugan in "The Hound of Ulster" Avery Brooks played Nokkar in "Sentinel" Regular convention. :) Julie XT Ruffell Screenplay writer of AWAKENINGS AWAKENINGS OFFICIAL SITE: http://www.roachsrealm.com/awakenings XENA TORRES SITE: http://www.bitchofrome.com "Save me from the dreaded hopping bracelet." - Croft AWAKENINGS ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
