Typing them out, I was amazed at how many names I recognised from later Xena and Herc eps. We all know Lucy and ROC appeared in those early movies (don't we? :), and of course Kevin Sorbo and Michael Hurst, but it's remarkable how many others got started way back. The very first face one sees in the intro sequence - therefore the first actor ever seen in the Herc-Xena saga - is Nathaniel Lees (Nicklio) as the Blue Priest (though his character didn't appear till the second movie, but he got co-starring credits - his name in gold letters up front - for that one). Lucy, of course, was in the first tele-movie, Herc and the Amazon Women, but before she made an appearance there was a little girl who turned into a hydra - - none other than Rose McIver. By the time she appeared as Daphne/Xena in Little Problems she had appeared four more times - as Ilea - in Herc episodes, so TPTB must have been confident she could carry off the role as Xena. Also in the first movie was one David Taylor - who you may remember as Solan. And Jeff Boyd who was Solan's short-lived Centaur guardian Kaleipus who Hope killed in Maternal Instincts. Speaking of which, in the third Herc movie, there was Amy Morrison, along with Kim Michalis and Lisa Chappell (one of my favourite Herc character actors, and one who always rated her name in gold at the start of every ep she appeared in - except for this very first appearance. Though she was never seen on XWP, she was always a strong and engaging character on Herc). Also in the first movie, Simone Kessell made the first of a half-dozen appearances on Herc, though known only to Xenafans as Miss Messini (in Miss Amphipolis). And speaking of which, Robert Trebor appeared in the second tele-movie, though as Waylin not Salmoneus. And in this movie Renee appeared as Princess Deianeira, a role later taken over in the rest of the tele-movies and several Herc eps by Tawny Kitaen. Then, Herc and the Underworld brought Michael Hurst's first appearance as Charon the boatman of Hades. Mark Ferguson appeared as Prometheus in the third and as Hades in the fourth movie - he only appeared in one more Herc ep, but XWP fans should remember him best as Dagnine, Xena's ex-lieutenant, in Orphan of War and Past Imperfect, or as the nasty John Smythe in Xena Scrolls (he was also Krykus in Hooves & Harlots and Remember Nothing). And the last movie co-starred Anthony Ray Parker as the Minotaur - he seems to have become the resident monster for any occasion where a huge menacing creature was required, XWP fans will remember him as Bacchus (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun), the Deliverer in the ep of that name, and Mephistopheles in Haunting of Amphipolis. Kinda fun, spotting familiar names. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
