She was interested in the Xena comic books and trading cards I have available, as well as the Xena movie. During the course of our e-mail exchange, I suggested she write Sharon Delaney to tell the story of Xena fans in Saudi Arabia. My thinking was that Lucy and Renee might like to hear about the fans in that part of the world. I also offered to post a message to my lists for her, if she liked. She did both. Sharon should have received that e-mail by now. I received a revised and edited version that the writer is more comfortable having posted to a wider world. See the message following mine. Hope you get this email in good health.. my name is Haifal 27 years old from Saudi Arabia.. I am a big fan of Xena Princess warrior -the TV show and the actress herself of course- actually not just me, there are alot of fans here in my country who love her dearly but since I was once the owner of the saudi Xena` fanclub so I decided to send this email in the behalf of my friends in the Saudi Xena: The Warior Princess fanclub. If you may give me some of your time to point out some facts about us. First I would like to explain why we are such passive fans though we are many; one of the reasons is that most of Xena`s fans here are girls and as you know generally girls` role is passive in our country ... another reason is that most of people prefer to see the episodes translated in Arabic so they have to waite so long till they can watch it on cable TV.. In addition, TV channels start showing it 2 years ago only !! the last episode was showen last month can you imagine! we were surprised when we discovered that its dated in 2001. Though this could be a good thing in which the show is considered new to us overhere and in Arabian countries in general so we are still excited about the show and looking forward to the Movie.. please produsers don`t let Xena`s fans in all over the world down... PLEASE Lucy... Second I would like to thank you all for the hard work you did in this perfect TV show, the story was great because it`s full of romance and imagination in the same time not mentioning the great performance specially by Xena & Gabrielle themselvies what a wonderfull choice. To our lovely actress if she could read this part please "You influence every girl either straight or gay in which they could be stronge and determind and in a special way for lesbians who force a big battle in society, it give us hope to see Xena fight for/with her lover in a very romantic way and to show people through Xena`s good goals that lesbians aren`t bad girls or troubled as they always cuesed them.. I have a hunch that your lovely personality have something to do with it. Thank you Lucy for giving us such hope and courage and for giving us warm moment and making us feel the passion freely which is the best feeling ever by your sensitive performance and the unique carisma of yours..you are indeed our favorite role model in soal and mind..
