I just thought that was interesting - it appears Karl is becoming a "name" actor. I liked Lucy's performance on the show. I expected her FBI agent to be very uptight but she surprised me with her breezy and funny attitude. I liked her little dissertation on team work. I haven't watched VM much so I was just a little lost on the story arc so I have to say I paid more attention to Lucy than the episode. I just can't seem to bond with this show - yes I think the acting is good but I just don't buy that these "kids" are suppose to be in high school. They all seem way too independent and self-assured to be adolescents. Oddly enough I never had any problems accepting Buffy and the Scooby gang as high school students maybe because in between fighting assorted monsters they worried about teen age problems. Anyway the writers certainly left the door open for Lucy's return which probably won't happen which is too bad because the character was a good fit for her. The movie Doom was really centered around Karl's character the Rock was really only a supporting actor in the movie Karl had a lot of screen time as the bad guy in the Matt Damion Movie "The Bourn Supremacy" So I'm not surprised Karl is getting a lot more recognition these days - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Catch ya later NZJester - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Oddly enough I never had any > problems accepting Buffy and the Scooby gang as high school students You know, I had to laugh at this because I LOVE Veronica Mars, but the teenager aspect is the thing that kept me from watching Buffy. How odd. >maybe because in between fighting assorted monsters they worried about teen age problems. Veronica Mars does as well. There's very real problems for the characters besides the crime fighting. ;) Course, I did get the complete series of Buffy for X-Mas, and I'm on the last season now. I will admit this: It's better than I thought (I used to trash on this thing), however, I still can't stand most of the characters and sometimes fall asleep while watching. BUT the characters I do like, I REALLY like, and truly bond with - course, then I get annoyed when they are neglected and tossed into the background or get butchered into not being what was cool (ie: my favs are Faith and Dawn. FAITH ROCKS SO MUCH! However, after a GREAT final stint on Angel, I felt she was very butchered for her final return on Buffy. And Dawn - oh, what a COOL idea the whole key thing was, and then it was dropped and Dawn became this background character that just got in danger and whined - even though she was totally justified to be upset with how she was treated in season 6, but it didn't mean she had to whine so much - plus, I felt they never resolved the issue) All in all, I hate the boring myth stuff and demon fighting - yawn. I DID enjoy when the show focused on the drama. Drama good. Me like drama. :) Wow - did I go off on a side tangent or what? :D BATTLE ON XENA! A friend who's a devotee of the show says that's very much part of the fabric and that Lucy fit right in. I haven't watched VM much so I was just a little lost on the story arc> > so I have to say I paid more attention to Lucy than the episode. I watched a few times becacuse of my friend's recommendation. I do find it intelligent, witty and with a great spunky hero. It's highly regarded by its fans and many critics. I think they had a campaign to ensure the show was renewed last year. My friend was very hopeful maybe Lucy's appearance would bring more publicity and maybe Xena fans. However, I had a hard time staying with Buffy, so I can't say I'll ever follow VM that much. I have no interest in all the subplots and other characters besides Veronica and her dad. > Anyway the writers certainly left the door open for Lucy's return > which probably won't happen which is too bad because the character was a > good > fit for her. > Seems VM fans are hopeful. My one disappointment was that the character didn't get to interact more with Veronica. I did like the bit at the end where Lucy conveyed with expession and tone of voice a certain admiration for Veronica's iconoclasm. Lucy certainly will be able to say she's been in some of the most critically acclaimed cult shows. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
