You know, some years out now from MWF, it's somehow a lot easier to sit down and watch it and just enjoy it for what it is - to me, silly and pointless (others' mileage will vary). I think I'm developing a better appreciation for the show as time passes. It's like a series of wines that become better with time. My preference still runs to the dramatic or adventurous (or the dramatic *and* adventurous) - the epics, the Callisto series, Season 3, and so on - but I don't shrug off the other episodes so quickly now. There's a certain warmth in watching Xena now, all of Xena. I don't quite know what it is - a longing for simpler times, or a simpler me, or that I'm just more easy-going now and can see the humor in more things - but I can watch it all and enjoy it on many levels, something it took a bit of effort for me to do in the past. When I do get to stay home and it's on, though, I watch it. I usually watch "Bones" beforehand - for dealing with such dark subject matter, "Bones" is... funny. Hah! What can I say. Dr. House irritates the heck outta me but I love the way the show is written - and love watching it. I hope Liz is back soon, I'd like to catch one of her eps for old times sake. :-) S. ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. All this time, I have quietly been KT's secret understudy. :-) You should see the amount of discussion churned out on my BSG list. We cough up reams and reams just between commercials. I can explore every nook, cranny, innuendo, nuance, missed opportunity, and subtext with wild glee, so make sure it's a thick notebook. *g* S. ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. You might not. Just depends. *g* The beauty of podcasts is that the show's creator can tell you things that you'd never know otherwise, like the name of the most recently revealed human-cylon agent, or what exactly happened to Starbuck at the cylon breeding farm. Probably wouldn't make a whole heap of difference in the end to the casual viewer, but it's good to know for us hardcore types. ;) S. ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. It has Joanna Pacula, Rutger Hauer and Arnold Vosloo. It has a low rating on IMDB, but one fan comments-- the idea to make Elisabeth, a woman over 40, the central character, is brilliant. Instead of the cute princesses you know from countless other fantasy movies or those Charlie's Angels kind of girly fighters, we are introduced to a tired, but very experienced fighting lady here who goes into her last battle for personal reasons, trying to rescue her abducted son. I'll rent it. Boeotian ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
