Bevis King visited the site when it was still in active use (some years ago now) and took a lot of photos, many of which are on this page (at Bevis's kind invitation). It's at http://cr.qc1.net/nx/sturgesrd/sturgesrd.html There's also a minor update on the 'West Coast' page - a couple of shots of Karekare Beach. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Subject: [chakram-refugees] old eps -- Miss Amphipolis and The Solstice Carol With no activity within the group [or have I been deleted and didn't know it?] I though I'd make a few comments about ... Miss Amphipolis and Solstice Carol after I rewatched them the other night. In the lead in to Miss Amphipolis, did anyone else think it odd that X & G appeared to be walking in from the sea as opposed to walking down the beach? I had always kind of laughed at that, but don't remember anyone commenting about it. Also, I saw the lifeguard shack w-a-y in the background in a couple of angles. Later in the seasons, didn't they just CGI that out? I'm not sure if it was something different in the lighting or in makeup, but LL facial features seemed different. I noticed most in the lead in on the beach when she was giving her 'bimbos' line and when she was wearing the dark cloak over her regular Xena outfit in the early scenes. At some times it seemed to make her face look fuller and at other times [or angles] it looked shinier -- like a different make up or something. I liked the looks, but they just looked different. Overall I liked it even if it was a kind of fluff piece. However, I have been accused by a few [Hi KT!] of not being a very discerning HCNB because I even liked 'Fishsticks' Another ep I always liked was Solstice Carol. Like many of their comedy eps it just looked like they had FUN making it. And what other way to help get into the Solstice/Christmas/[insert current PC phraseology here] spirit. I enjoy LL's different 'voices' as she played two of the Fates. Wasn't the donkey another recycled prop from a Herc ep? The fight at the end was a hoot! You could even see some of the baddies trying to hide a smile in some shots. A specific gesture/look I liked was LL throwing the pillow in slo-mo at the end with that set look of determination on her face. Funny how that same slo-mo throw and look return in 'The Price' [when she throws that hatchet at the fleeing horde member] can then have a sinister and chilling feel to it. I still get chills watching 'The Price', but.... that is for another time. Mark ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Play it every year at about this time. I can't help wondering if Renee was, concerning the donkey, making all kinds of ass joke. "Smart ass," instead of "Smart donkey," & like that.
