Their latest newsletter has this great news about Alexandra Billings, who starred in _Xena Live!_. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexandra Billings Megan Carney Two About Face Artists Inducted into Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame On November 1, 2005, About Face Associate Artistic Director Megan Carney and About Face Artistic Associate Alexandra Billings, were among 14 individuals and organizations inducted into Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place in front of a packed audience at the Chicago Cultural Center with special guest, Mayor Richard Daley. The Hall of Fame recognizes the volunteer and professional achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, their organizations and friends, as well as their contributions to the LGBT community and the City of Chicago. This is a unique tribute dedicated to persons and organizations whose services have improved the quality of life for all of Chicago's citizens. Alex was honored for her contributions as an educator, mentor, advisor, fundraiser and role model through her work as a performer and teacher in the Chicago theatre community. About Face fans will remember Alex for her work in Xena Live! Episodes 1 and 2. Alex is currently living in Los Angeles, working in film, television and theatre, and this winter will collaborate with Eric Rosen to further develop the solo performance piece Alex performed for The Gift and Other Stories. Megan was honored for her work with About Face Youth Theatre and her contributions to change the landscape of Chicago's sexual-minority communities through her commitment to the healthy development of LGBTQA youth. Megan is a founding staff member of the Youth Theatre and has been in the forefront of creating programming for youth that validates their experiences, helps them grow personally, and empowers them to create positive change within their communities. Megan is currently on sabbatical working towards her MFA in Directing and Public Dialogue at Virginia Tech, and will return to Chicago this summer to direct the world premiere of The Home Project. Congratulations to Alex and Megan for this incredible achievement! - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Face Theatre * Administrative Offices 1222 W. He played a suspect in a domestic murder case (wasn't watching closely). Also, I saw Tim Omundson in another CBS vehicle--one of the CSIs or sumpin'?? Had another Judging Amy alum on there--the guy who played Amy's fiance, David (what ever happened to JA, anyway--I thought it was pretty good?). While watching football today (the only time my tv is ever tuned to that network) I've seen several promos for the next episode of this show, which guest stars Laurie Metcalf (one of the best actresses to come out of the Chicago Steppenwolf scene, best known as Jackie on _Roseanne_). That's not enough to get me to watch it, but enough to show me that the quality of the acting on the show must be better than average. > (what ever happened to JA, anyway--I thought it was > pretty good?). It was good, therefore it didn't have the ratings and got cancelled. :P I'm still waiting for its 6th and final season to cycle around on the daily reruns on TNT -- that's how I've managed to catch up on the first five seasons so far. (The show took place 30 miles away from me and had Tyne Daly in it, I just had to. :) - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
