So, an attempted effort to be accurate that fell flat. Nuts. ;) Umm, I have to disagree. We were never shown or told just when she got the chacky (though there's a strong implication Ares had something to do with it). The first time we saw the chacky in use, IIRC, was when she whacked her villanous-looking sidekick with it to stop him talking to Hercules - was that in The Warrior Princess or The Gauntlet? - I can't recall now. Have to look up your episode transcripts Yeah, near the end of TWP. It was Estrogon she whacked with it. (But anyway, even if we hadn't seen it in TWP, that wouldn't be proof that Xena didn't have it lying around somewhere.... 'absence of evidence is not evidence of absence' :) I seem to recall various discussions about just what the sequence of episodes were 'ten years ago' and just when Xena picked up the chacky. I really can't remember if she had it in Chin in The Debt (I think probably not??) or in Japa in FIN... But I don't think her possession of it in Rheingold is a YAXI. She could well have picked it up on her way back from Japa. > >shows it really is Gabs and Brunnhilde in the background as Xena rides > > past - therefore, same >scene. Ain't that neat? > > I was confused by what you meant. I shall have to check it out. Ummm. We have a close-up of Brunnhilde talking to Gabs, saying 'She called it Chin' yadda yadda.... (call this Shot 1) Then cut to a shot where we have a horse riding past in foreground with 35-years-ago Xena on it - wearing the original chacky etc. Call this shot 2. (Originally I had the recollection the camera had zoomed back from Brunnhilde & Gabs to long-shot so the horse could ride past. Not so. There was a cut.) However, in Shot 2, there is the painting of Valkyries (which is what got Gabs and Brunnhilde talking) in the foreground, Xena rides in front of it, and in the background are Brunnhilde and Gabs. (Use the Pause on your DVD if you want to see for yourself). (Well, it's either B&G or two people who look exactly like them.... ) So, it's two shots of the same scene.... except that B&G are in the 'now' and Xena is in '35 years ago'. > >... obsessed fan who has no life.... :) > > *raises hand* Me too, me too!!!
