Just as Gabs is interrogating Brunnhilde, who she's just met, about the Valkyrie Xena, and Brunnhilde says "She came to us from a distant land in the East. She called it Chin" - the camera cuts back to a long shot, with Gabs and Brunnhilde in the distance and the tapestry in the foreground, and Xena (of 35 years ago) rides past in the foreground. Cool. Technically it's a 35-year anachronism, but it's a nice device, IMO. Has the effect of making Brunnhilde's story 'come alive'. (How do we know it's 35-years-ago Xena and not 'now'-Xena? First, cos it's 35-years-ago Xena that Brunnhilde's talking about, second, Xena meets Odin for the first time in the very next shot, third, because 'now'-Xena would just be too enormous a coincidence, oh, and fourth, she's wearing the old original chacky.) When I first noticed it I looked again and dismissed it as just a normal 'cut' from one scene to the next that I'd read too much into.... but careful viewing (DVD's are marvellous!) shows it really is Gabs and Brunnhilde in the background as Xena rides past - therefore, same scene. Ain't that neat? cr ... obsessed fan who has no life.... :) ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I think we know she can really work a role like this. She did it in X-Files with ease. I look forward to seeing her - and judging by the sound of the character, I hope she'll be in more than one episode. I like Lost and Housewives, but Mars is just frigging brilliant. You just NEVER know where Mars is gonna go. It's the only show I have EVER watched where I've never been able to predict a darn thing. Season one was all about Veronica hunting for the killer of her best friend (and solving weekly crimes as she did so). She learned hidden truths about her missing mother, family secrets, found fall guys, bugged a secure corporation and in, what had to be the most shocking and surprising moment on tv last year, found her best friend's killer. Believe me - you'll never see it coming. ;) Season one is out on DVD. Xenites - fans of the self willed, determined, tough women, why are you missing this show? You'll all be hooked by Lucy's ep - BUT, well, you're not likely to have a clue what's going on. Every season is about one big mystery that carries throughout the year. As to will Lucy reappear - it depends on what context her role is. If she is involved in the bus crash (the big mystery this year), then it's possible. However, if she's there for one of the weekly crimes, it likely would not be a reocurring role - though, characters do pop up again on Veronica Mars. ;) BATTLE ON XENA! It's the >only show I have EVER watched where I've never been able to predict a darn >thing. I've heard the name Veronica Mars, but I guess I thought it was a talk show or a sitcom... or something. No clue! Yes, very overshadowed. I don't watch Lost or Desperate Housewives, though. I'm just not a big network TV watcher, kinda got out of the habit when the reality TV hit big time and nothing was worth watching anymore. (Don't get me wrong - Lost and Desperate Housewives are worth watching, but for some reason I can't really get into them... dunno) Battlestar Galactica is very, very unpredictable like you say Veronica Mars is. To paraphrase your comments, I've never watched a show where I couldn't predict what was going to happen next, or where everything was leading. Battlestar is very mysterious in those respects. I'll have to start watching Veronica Mars to try and catch up with some storyline now. I want to kinda have a vague clue about what's going on, before Lucy arrives. :) S. ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
