A little tiny machine gun mounted on its head would make bat hunting so much more interesting. I could bat dogfights in my living room. I say once again -- those movie people obviously had no clue whom to hire for their bat expert. I am shocked -- no outraged! -- they completely ignored your personal experience and wisdom in this critical area. That said, I'm a little surprised you failed to mention an obvious (to me anyway) potential bat smasher -- a frying pan. And, no, I'm afraid I will not be contributing to the $3,500 fund so you can get a fake bat. Seeing real ones every now and then plays havoc with your ... um ... shall we say emotional stability? I shudder to imagine how you'd react to staring at or bopping a bat on a daily basis. We have your -- not to mention our own -- sanity to consider. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Every bat I have encountered has been given the chance to leave peacefully and some have; only the stubborn or stupid have met their end by my mop and sword. Also bats are not generally an endangered species. The law passed to protect them was passed in an effort to save one specific species that lives in the southwest - since it is pretty difficult to tell one type of bat from another congress just protected them all. Now in all fairness to bats - they are good creatures - they eat insects. I have in the past allowed bats to live fairly unmolested in my attic until their bathroom habits became problematic. I wish all bats long and happy lives as long as those lives are led away from me.
