Contact meth@smoe.org with any questions or problems. ========================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 22:13:54 -0500 From: Lilli Sprintz Subject: [chakram-refugees] request for help hi everyone! i know that lots of you are helping in various ways with very urgent things going on in the world, and in our communities. i am coming to this community to ask for help for a very particular thing that involves friends. i cannot help them myself because i am on welfare and social security disability, but i want to try to do this small thing for them. they are in a crisis. one is disabled with spinal damage, two fractured discs from a fall, is in her 80's and needs to find some way to use a phone without walking into another room. her caretaker and she are both adament about not wanting help. it's distress. i know they really want it but are too angry with people and society and life to ask anyone for, or accept, a lifeline without struggling for it. too much shame involved. i struggled with this issue myself tonight, and decided to ask you all for help. you all remember the episode Tsunami? when this guy for most of the episode tried to undermine xena trying to save them all, and then tried to take her air bottle away from her? she kicked him off. but when he started to drown went back and pulled him out. if this rings true to anyone, one thing this person i know needs is a phone that can be plugged into the wall with the receiver that you can walk into another room with (can never remember the names of these things!). as long as you periodically put it back in the main phone carraige for recharge. that's it. fyi, this is for the U.S. if this feels like something anyone one of you can do for this person, please email me privately. meredith, i hope you understand that i am trying to ask for community help, and hope that none of you who loved the xena show will be offended by this request. thanks all!
