The raiders transmit the coverage to Caprica, one of the conquered Colonial homeworlds, where it is reviewed by hunmaniform Cylon clones. (The Cylons have set up experimental breeding facilities on Caprica. In one episode Starbuck was caught and her eggs harvested. The second character played by Lucy is one of the Cylon clones. The Cylons reviewing the show are concerned for the most part only with the state of Boomer's baby. They express surprise that Boomer 2, the Boomer that escorted Helo across Caprica during the first part of the Cylon invasion, is still alive given the fact that Boomer 1 attempted to assassinate Commander Adama. (Boomer 1 was killed by Cally a young deckhand.) But the Cylons show the most interest in Boomer 2's baby. This the plot line covered by Balter and Number 6. (Balter has been having symbolic visions of a Cylon and human union resulting in a baby, the plot line following Boomer 2 and Helo.) I believe that Boomer 2 told Commander Adama that there were two more undiscovered Cylons within the fleet. That would make Lucy's character the first of the two remaining undiscovered Cylons. The last scene implies that we will be seeing one or more of Lucy's Cylon character's in future episodes. It is also a warning that enemies are savy enough to use print or broad cast media as an intellegence gathering tool. you see this in the movie "Three Days of the Condor." These circumstances suggest that perhaps Lucy's character D'Anna Biers may form a romantic interest with Apollo or alternately form a romantic interest with Tom Zarek played by Richard Hatch who played Apollo in the original series. But the most important question remains--will Boxey ever find a dagget? Richan ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. There was a reporter character in the miniseries who turned out to be a cylon (he was the guy with Boomer and Number 6 and Biers on Caprica), which is interesting that the cylons would find the media so important to plant two cylons there. They only had twelve to plant and they took two of them into the media. Kym ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Don't read if you haven't seen the episode and plan to. I started watching Battlestar this season because I heard Lucy was going to on it and I have become a big fan. It is one the best written series on TV today with one of the finest ensemble casts going. Too bad that it will never get a major Emmy nomination because it is a sci-fi series. Now for Lucy's episode. It was a very deceptive entry in the series. It appeared on the surface to be one of those episodes tailored for a "special" guest star. A character comes on board to do a documentary on the crew of the Battlestar. There was very similar episode on Babylon 5 years ago where a hostile reporter does an investigation. And indeed this seems to be a very similar episode. Lucy's character is also hostile. A couple of episodes back marines from the Battlestar killed a number of civilians in a nasty confrontation over supplies. D'anna Biers has come to investigate and get answers to why no one has been held accountable for the killings. Adama and Resident Roswell have made the starling decision to allow the reporter full access to the Battlestar and crew. D'anna and her faithful cameraman are off. She sees first hand the stress that the crew of the Battleship is under. She also discovers that the Adama is harboring a pregnant Cylon a fact that could destroy Adama and the president. She also gets a nasty manhandling by Col. Tigh but later is instrumental in saving his life. In the end D'anna does the right thing and her documentary is an honest portrayal of life on the ship and the bravery of the men and women who serve there. However there is a slight catch D'anna Biers is a fraud and is actually a Cylon who brings the happy news to her co-horts that a Cylon baby is on way and things are about to change. Lucy did a great job here. She avoids the trap of portraying her reporter as a strident bitch. D'anna Biers comes off as a nice person with a good sense of humor which appears to mask real vulnerability and perhaps even uncertainty. She is however a very clever girl who is not above manipulation to get a good story and sly enough to fool even Capt. Adama. Slowly she even seems to bond with the Petty Officer Dualla as the young women recounts her difficult relationship with her father. D'anna emerges as a sympathetic character with no hint that she is nothing more that what she seems. So when it is revealed she is actually a Cylon it is a total surprise. But even as a Cylon the writing is so good that you don't just get a standard villain but a glimpse of the Cylon's humanity when D'anna pronounces Sharon's pregnancy as a "miracle from God". My favorite moments in the episodes. Baltar's encounters with D'anna. His nervousness as he approaches her to try and get her to interview and D'anna's dismissal of him as an odd little man (doubly funny because at the moment Lucy is towering over everyone in the scene). Baltar finally gets his interview and just as he is about launch on a self promoting rant D'anna rushes off to cover a Cylon attack leaving a deflated Baltar in her wake. I certainly hope Lucy returns to the show. Her character has a lot of possibilities and we are left with the question as to what exactly is her role. Is she just a spy or is she there to protect Sharon's baby. CherylA ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I went over to the Battlestar forum to see how Lucy's performance went over and I was reminded of our own nutform. People are calling each other names and while a few are trying to actually discuss the episodes others are drooling over Apollo or are posting Lucy's costume failure from ages ago. The most annoying thing however was that they never referred to Lucy as Lucy but always as Xena - I thought it was dismissive and a bit insulting and I would have said so but the my registration didn't work so I couldn't post.
