Well, much as I like Gina Torres, I felt 'Zoe' was woefully under-used on Firefly... with a cast of six or eight characters, I think she got no more time than any of the others (most of whom, IMO, were rather wet). 'Mal Reynolds' seemed to get the major share of screen time. 'Firefly' was very much a 'cowboy Western with spaceships' (maybe intentionally) - and Joss's liking for cows and horses just made the resemblance more obvious. IMO. :) I would have liked to see much more of Zoe, though. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Universal has been looking for a franchise like the Star Trek films and certainly Firefly may fill that void. It has enough young people in the cast that it may attract a young audience and it may be that the demographics for film is the desired audience of young males that Hollywood loves. Xena is a little tougher sell. I would think it's core audience skews older and is more female. It is very dependent on Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor as the stars and female action films have not been very successful as of late. Also both women are now in their thirties and may be considered a little too old to front a movie that would develop into a franchise for the studio. I still think and have always thought Xena would do wonderfully as a series of TV movies (women are the main TV audience) but would not be very successful as a big screen feature. As for Serenity (the Firefly film) I have no idea how it will do - it will probably lure in the hard core sci-fi fans and certainly those who liked the series and that may be all that Universal is looking for but I can't believe it is going to be a big box office winner.
