Lol, Firefly is NOT a new show, it was on several years ago, and is also available on dvd...Sci-Fi is rerunning the whole (short-lived) series, leading up the release of the sequel film, "Serenity," that comes out in late September. The show was created by Joss Whedon, who did Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and he did the film as well, same cast including Gina. Gina's character is indeed a major one, by the way! - -Sarah- ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. It's not a new SciFi production -- _Firefly_ was a FOX series that FOX did its usual thing with, i.e. gave it the Time Slot Of Death, ran the episodes out of order so nothing made sense, and then cancelled it after only a few episodes. The full series was then put out on DVD, and sales were so huge that Joss Whedon was able to get a major motion picture financed to close out the series. _Serenity_ will be released on September 30. I was able to see a sneak preview back in May, and trust me -- it's an incredible film. One of the best SF movies I've ever seen. I can't wait to see it again in completed form. In the run up to the release of the film, SciFi is running all the episodes in their intended order. I think this is great -- it is introducing the series to a new audience just in time for the film. > major enough that she's in > opening credits. though i haven't seen her given lots of focused screen > time yet, i hope that changes. Oh, it will. Zoe is a vital character, and Torres plays her perfectly. What happened to _Firefly_ is a real shame. Joss Whedon is on record as saying it was his favorite cast to work with, and the story is a story he wanted to tell even more than that of Buffy and Angel. It could well have been one of the best TV series of all time. As it is, we have 13 most excellent episodes, and we're about to have an even more excellent movie. Funny how these things work out. - -- =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Zoe is a vital character, and Torres plays her perfectly. Yeah, she was the tough chick. Personally, I found the show boring, EXCEPT for River. I thought River's character and story were just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool. It's odd. I never seem able to get into a Wedon show, except for one or two characters. The only things I liked on Buffy was Faith (until they butchered her in the last season) and the original concept with Dawn (which they just dropped to the side and made her character utterly useless after season five). :P But Gina is great in Firefly. I also like how, due to her role on Firefly, she had a large role as Jasmine on Angel (which she was REALLY good in). BATTLE ON XENA! So what are Xena DVD sales -- chopped liver? They certainly haven't led to a film.
