I don't class them as similar, though I do have reservations about the credibility of _both_ fights. In the case of OAAA, why did it happen at all? Why didn't the Persian army just ignore Xena's fort completely and ride past it? (Given that they did decide to fight Xena, I'll accept - for the purposes of maintaining the fantasy - that Xena could defeat them in a confined space). In Kill Bill, now, it wasn't particularly established beforehand that the Bride had Xena's superhuman abilties. Aside from that, she was completely surrounded by dozens of the enemy gang - why didn't _any_ of them manage to get her from behind? Why (in a modern gang) were none of them in possession of any heat? (That's guns, in case my slang is obscure). Why were they all so negligent as to allow the Bride to cut them all to ribbons one after the other thus leaving her free to go and get their master? And how did she get that katana through customs? Come to that, how did she get it on the plane? Evidently Tarantino wasn't too concerned with realism ;) The solo fight - the Bride vs O-ren Ishi'i in the snow - definitely reminded me of the 'feel' of Friend in Need. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Well, you do have to remember that the stunt guy was from "Crouching Tiger" but, yeah, I'm with you. I like things to be 'real.' Xena is a fantasy world and was set up as a super human, but, even then, there has been a few times when even I go COME ON! (ie: the jump up the side of the castle in "The Debt" and the jump from shore to boat in "Lost Mariner" to name a few). But, the same could be said of EVERY serial killer movie/show ever made. They are all SO, *SO* off and NO where NEAR reality. But, reality is boring and hard to sell as entertainment. ;) BATTLE ON XENA! The animal's actual behavior does not matter. > Hum at the turn of the century one of the most popular breads of dogs was Staffordshire Terriers. This was General Patton's dog, the Budweiser dog and the dog in the Our Gang comedies and now it is to be a pariah. Dogs are individuals some are vicious and some are gentle. Unfortunately some people have breed pit to be aggressive. If politicians think by banning any breed of dog they can stop people breeding dogs to be vicious they are fools. If you ban pit people will make sure there are vicious Rotwielers or German Shepard's or Dobermans or even mean Standard Poodles. The problem is the owners and not the dogs. I hope Xena finds a good home. CherylA ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
