Well, I guess it just strikes me differently. Admittedly, Alti+Xena didn't have quite the same psychological link as I felt with Callisto+Xena, but more than anyone else (Najara, Caesar, Lao Ma etc). Oh, except possibly Ares+Xena. That's just how it struck me. As for conflicted connections - Alti had a major, major influence in creating EvilXena. She certainly appealed to the dark side of Xena's personality. (snippage) > I agree that Alti was a wonderful addition as a nemesis for Xena. Look at the part (as I said) that Alti played in Xena's past. There was plenty of psychological stuff going on there, from my view. I just found Alti way more interesting than Lao Ma, for example, or Caesar. In fact I found Caesar similar to your description of Alti - just an unpleasant fly waiting to be squashed. That's just the way it strikes me. > > Not that this is Xena-related, it's Herc-related, but I was just having a > > discussion on some list about Gina Torres' role in the Joss Whedon movie > > 'Serenity' (which is the movie sequel to the short-lived 'Firefly' > > series). > > > > And, having seen Gina as Nebula on Herc, as Hel on Cleo 2525, as Zoe in > > Firefly, and briefly guesting as a villain on Alias, I have to say that > > Nebula was by far the best role she had (IMO). > > I don't doubt it. Is this something a middle-aged person living in the 21st Century should know about? (Gods, I hope it's not a rock >group. Do they have "rock" groups anymore? ) Oh my god. I am really SCARED that so many people do not know about this. The Chronicles of Narnia is a seven book fantasy series written by CS. Lewis. I am sure I will get the date wrong, but I believe they were written in the 50s. Most people tend to read them around grade 6 or 7 (I read them in grade 5 myself). They are just WONDERFULLY magical books with great characters and stories and everyone should read this series. Of the 7 books, three I believe (it's been a LONG time) were made into a television series by a British station back in the 80s. Great for kids, but adults will shudder. ;) Only now, FINALLY is the series being brought to life for the big screen. "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" was the first book written in the series (though it actually comes second after "The Magician's Nephew" if you want to go chronologically). It's the most well known title of the series. If you haven't heard of it, I now consider you an under the rock dweller! For more info on the movies go to the official site at: http://www.narnia.com and check out the trailer. >Hmmm, apparently I am indeed behind in my education. "Xena" taught me to be understanding and accepting of our differences - to embrace that. Honestly, before "Xena" my only knowledge of homosexuals was what one learns at school - and that's not a pretty place to learn things. Negative, negative, negative. It took meeting people and not knowing and then to find out and be like, "Oh, wait, they are normal people" for me to clue in. That's because of "Xena" and surfing "Xena" chat rooms.
