But very good to me >because I personally have always enjoyed Seattle. I like old American >cities very much, those cities that grew up before the horseless carriage >came into general use. I like that those cities are compact, filled with >walking people and buzzing with life. I do not see this in either Burbank >or Pasadena. > >The hall is quite a bit smaller than Burbank so the con has a nice >intimate feel. There is also a very relaxed and informal feeling compared >to the LA cons. I think the crowd being smaller, plus so many usual faces >being present and greeting each other with great surprise and delight with >multiple variations of 'Woah! I didn't know YOU were coming!" (since it's >a new place and who knew how many of the LA con folks would be there?), >plus the fact that there weren't any guest stars today, created a more >laid back and easy-going atmosphere. > >The main event of the con today was really Lucy's evening show. We started >around 3:30 with a "Music Video Salute" which featured bunches of fighting >female sci-fi characters. Of which I recognized three-Sigourney from >Alien, Angeline Jolie from what I assume was Tomb Raider and I think about >three seconds of Buffy. I took notes the ENTIRE time. I think I wrote down most of Lucy's lines from GPB. ;) So, this email is just for the highlights and what you can expect more details (and pixs on) besides the obvious stuff (ie: Renee, Adrienne and Paris on stage will OF COURSE be in the review). And XT's top highlights of the convention are: 1) Seeing Lucy Lawless. Friday night she was RUSHED away by two body guards and we barely saw her, but Sat and Sun she hung around in the yucky, dirty alley to sign photos. I got TWO signatures from Lucy. On Sat she signed a Xena photo of mine (from about three people away from me), but on Sun she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME for about a minute, so I gave her my shoulder and she signed right above Adrienne Wilkinson's autograph on my Bitch of Rome shirt. Lucy TOUCHED me. ::drooling:: Add to that Lucy's compliment of my Xena yell (which I have on video - to be posted once I figure out how) AND she ululated WITH me on Sat when I did the "Alalalalala" as she left and she finished with "She-ya!" How cool is that? 2) Renee O'Connor, the picture of class attending the Dance Party. I got to do the XENA RAP WITH RENEE! WHOOOOOOOOOO! Can't much beat that experience. I've got a LOT of Renee stuff to share between being in the room for a photo op when Renee was so moved by fan kindness that she started crying and had to step out, to her on stage and her at the dance party (and lots of photos, of course). I also found a fan who taped my entire rap with Renee, so that will be put up as well once I figure out how 3) FINALLY getting a photo with Adrienne Wilkinson to replace the ruined shot in 2001. Adrienne was amazing as always and to my eternal joy remembered me and actually high fived me at the dance party. Chatted here and there as we kept bumping into each other in and around the con (dance party, elevator, photo op, autograph line). Adrienne was nice enough to give me THREE autographs. One on a photo, one for a friend of mine and then was nice enough to give a second one to me by signing my Bitch of Rome shirt which she really liked. She was a fan of my Xena yell. And we heard her sing twice. 4) I was told I was in row E. Upon arriving at the convention, I discovered my friend and I were in ROW A!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a brand new camera JUST for this event and the shots are to DIE for with NO HEADS IN THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO! So, we got video, we got photos coming out of our ears and pretty much a play by play convention review all coming soon. Just give me a moment to sort everything out. Friday or Sat at the lastest (gotta see "Revenge of the Sith" as well, after all) ;) BATTLE ON XENA!
