I kept reading, figuring there might be a few more clues as to what he was talking about. Or not. Then he said, "Lucy Lawless". By the time I hopped up and got far enough down the ladder to see the TV, the coming attraction was over. D'OH! My honey said it showed a shot of her with "Lucy Lawless" superimposed in text across the screen. And there was a a school bus and some locusts flying around. YAY! CBS obviously feels that the success of its various CSI series gives them license to perpetrate such things as _Spring Break Shark Attack_ and _Locusts_ ... but I can't for the life of me figure out why. I don't have cable so don't have Sci-Fi channel so haven't seen it. If I had been somewhere where I could have tuned it in, I certainly would have watched it. But I wasn't expecting this to be something I would like a lot. As I've often said, I'm not really a sci-fi/horror/action adventure fan. But I really enjoy Bruce Campbell and his light-hearted and fun attitude towards his characters. And I would happily watch Renee at work and cheer her on. She's pulled off some excellent moments in XWP and she's also someone whom I think is very good at comedy. I was less than thrilled that Josh Becker was in charge. None of his Xena eps come anywhere near being among my favorites and his later work on Xena, like In Sickness And In Health, If The Shoe Fits and Kindred Spirits reside near the bottom of the XWP watchable pile for me. Soul Possession wasn't that bad--but it's one of the middling, bread and butter ones that again, I don't rewatch very often. Though Kevin is delightful in it. I've seen the names but I don't recognize the folks that are directing/producing "Locusts". But hopefully they'll be better at their job than Becker is. > CBS obviously feels that the success of its various CSI series gives > them license to perpetrate such things as _Spring Break Shark Attack_ > and _Locusts_ ... but I can't for the life of me figure out why. > LAUGH! You'd think they'd have more dignity. Though I'm not real surprised. I mean, look at what's on TV today. At least they're not more reality shows. Also, they're obviously going for the younger viewers. High concept--Spring Break--Girls gone wild. THEN! Shark attack! Girls in bikinis (maybe even some thongs) in danger--perhaps a few wardrobe malfunctions as they run out of the water dripping wet and go screaming and bobbling down the beach--and hey, maybe they'll even be a cameo from Snoop Dogg, yelling at them to show us their tits as they go jiggling by. why wouldn't anybody want a piece of this action? ;-> Schlock horror shows are staples of summer movie entertainment and generally do okay in theaters and very well in subsequent DVD distribution worldwide. I imagine that's what they're thinking. You know, crap is on TV only because it's popular and people watch it. > (But oh, of COURSE I'm going to watch it. Don't be silly. :) > But of course. That goes without saying. > >KT > >(rubbing hands together with glee) > > ... like a locust, perhaps? ;) GRIN. You know, you're the third person to point this out to me. It was totally unintentional or at the very least, totally subliminal. Tim Omundson is Susan's younger brother, who is sitting on a couch reading the Daily News and has a grand total of two lines. I just about fell off the couch when I figured out that was him. Pretty durned funny. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
