Variety, March 14. 2005, p. 13 has an article "Teens turn out 
for horror pix" which says--
 
"Horror seems to come in waves--both filmmakers' desire to make 
them and audience desire to see them," says Sam Raimi, who
before "Spider-Man" made his name as a filmmaker with "Army
of Darkness" and "The Evil Dead."
  "In the 80s, the high body count became the formula," he  notes.
Eventually, Raimi notes, "It was a lot of sequels, and it became not 
a cool thing to see a late-number sequel."
   Rob Tapert, Raimi's partner in Ghost House Pictures, adds:  "The
audience is so smart.  They've all seen 'Scream.'  You have to be 
constantly reinventing chills and thrills for audiences.  There  are
lower body counts, but there are great new ways to scare people."
Ghost House was the producer of PG-13 "Boogeyman," which has
grossed a solid $46 million to date.

Hi,

TiVo helpfully informs me that _Alien Apocalypse_, starring Bruce Campbell 
and Renee O'Connor will premiere on the SciFi Channel here in the US this 
Saturday, March 26 starting at 9pm Eastern time (and running several more 
times immediately following).

Check your local listings -- and get those recording devices ready.  At the 
very least it will be amusing. :)
