At the con it was apparent there was a hope that a movie was going to be announced. Perhaps that is why Rob and Katherine were there. Those hopes were dashed. While Katherine was very optimistic that a deal was just around the corner, Rob was more realistic. He does have the rights and Universal has stated that it wants a movie, no one seems willing to cough up the money and no money, no movie. Personally I can see Universal giving Rob the money for Xena with the failure of both Catwoman and Elektra recently. I doubt if the studios are willing to put much faith in Xena to be a box office hit. I still think Xena would be do very well as a TV movie for SciFi or USA - Xena has been in reruns on both networks and there is an audience familiar with the show. Also TV has traditionally been a women's medium which has been more accepting of female heroes than film. Rob himself said he had plans for around four TV movies after Xena went out of syndication but it didn't pan out. So maybe if Xena is kept in the public eye we will get to our gals in action before Judah, Julius, and Miles are older enough to play warlords of the week. I like that. And I like that better than what came after. Although there were some interesting seasons later on, as I've said many times before, there was too much "touch-feely" stuff going on for my tastes, and the plots were too contrived and convoluted IMO. I know we disagree, but there ya go. - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ...
