According to the description on IMDB, it looks like it's a sequel (which makes sense given what happened at the end of _Daredevil_ -- I came out of that movie saying to myself "they'll probably not make a sequel to this movie, but I know for sure there will be one for Elektra!"). >I remember a lot of people commenting on her Gabby like moves in Dare Devil One word: sais. :) Gotta love a woman flinging sais. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== hear at the HOMe House Concert Series http://hom.smoe.org =============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I'm fairly well educated and have traveled a bit. I listen to National Public Radio and read a variety of publications enjoyed by "nerds." So it always amazes me when something happens that reminds me what I didn't know before a certain quirky, "what shall we make up to thow at 'em today" fanstasy show came along. I know my friends are sick of hearing that XWP was more "deep" and educational than they might think. I've had my share of sighs, eye rolls and snarky "She probably got it from Xena" comments. Here's the latest: "Tsunami." When I first heard the title of that ep, I had no idea what the heck it was supposed to mean. I figured it referred to some new other-worldly creature. After I saw the spelling, I looked it up in the dictionary. "Unusually large waves caused by underwater earthquakes and volcanoes." Riiiiight. I still thought it was some arcane term cleverly appropriated for (and of relevance confined to) the Xenaverse. Until last week. I'm not saying the ep prepared me for the real-life devastation, but at least I had some frame of reference. That's a lot more than I can say for a bunch of other educated folks who scratched their heads at the TV and radio reports, guessing "Tsunami" must be one of the lesser known countries where "that awful flood" occurred. Anybody else learn something on Xena that ended up being significant or useful? - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Sequel. She didn't die in DD. Watch carefully. >I remember a lot of people commenting on her Gabby like moves in Dare Devil Well, they aren't Gabby like. Really, there's only so many moves you can do with weapons, especially when training an actor. Usually they are taught four or so basic moves and it's just a matter of how you conbine them. And Jennifer is actually better at fight scenes than our Xena gals. *shock* I know, how could I say that?! Well, Jennifer does a lot more in her fight scenes on Alias and uses any thing lying around as a weapon, which gives the stunt people more moves they can do with Jen then with Lucy and Renee who were usually limited to the weapons they always used. And Jennifer DID pick up a set of sais in an ep of Alias after DD (where her fighting talents were just WASTED) and had one hell of a fight scene with them, that...I'm gonna say it, was better then any Gab fight scene. Of course, fight scenes are just fun. They are not the core of the show. And Xena still wins in my book cause even if Sydney jumbs off a roof of a skyscraper, it can't compare to Xena's fantasy world fights: Ie: latter fight, 'janga' fight, Livia vs. Xena in "Eve," "One Against an Army." But Alias is a GREAT follow up. Sure, it's not Xena, but there can NEVER be another Xena. But there can be shows that live up to Xena's greatness in their own way. Believe me, if you're not watching Alias, you're MISSING OUT! BATTLE ON XENA!
