It's from a NZ friend, Kiwi Fan. -- Ife Xena Meets Seinfeld There was an item on last night's [Dec. 17] TV3 late night news that featured some XWP comments. It was about an NZ comedy duo who've been commissioned by NBC to write a pilot for a TV prog that satiricizes Sitcoms. The duo were spotted by NBC scouts at the Edinburgh festival doing their show that included some singing with acoustic guitars. Apparently NBC execs think there needs to be some different kind of ingredient to make a successful show. The guys were shown working with an American script co-ordinator. They had a load of TV prog DVDs in front of them Alias was picked out as being a key one, but one of the Kiwi guys picked up a XWP DVD. He said Xena has a New Zealand element and it was like Xena meets Seinfeld as he picked up a Seinfeld DVD and smacked it and the XWP one together. Presumably he was talking about what they wanted their show to be liked. A little later one of the duo said that they might be the new Xena. For some reason they were called the Flight of the Conchords, which I think may be the working title for the show. Anyway, at the moment their task is to write a script that NBC will choose to make into a pilot... and then of course there's no telling if it will be successful. - -- Kiwi Fan ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
