I guess we wouldn't have got a director's commentary on that ep if it hadn't been directed by ROC. I must admit to considerable angst when she mentioned 'understudying' T J Scott on Sin Trade, over the fact that we were getting a commentary on a minor 'bottle' episode when we didn't get one on the most spectacular (IMO) and inventive (IMO!) episode in the series. This isn't a criticism of ROC, who gave her time to do the commentary - I just find it hard to listen to her commentary without a niggling feeling of frustration. This is unfair to ROC and not her fault. > Also ROC didn't understand why people were upset when Harry hit Annie. > Although he certainly has to stop Annie from her plan to disarm the bomb I > believe ROC failed to understand that people dislike seeing women hit - > especially women who seem harmless or even foolish. Yet Gabs was supposed to be the 'nice' one and Xena was supposed to be the 'bad' one. Curious. ;) (And, incidentally, in Sacrifice it did seem quite shocking when Xena pushed Joxer - even though, as we found later, it was, as you say, planned). > That was a bad > choice - if Mattie had hit Annie that would have been another matter - that > would continued the Gabby and Joxer dynamic and if Harry had objected to > Annie getting socked that would have made him more heroic.
