Had you been wearing a XENA t-Shirt, the bat would have hightailed it out of there after it's first peek, eeking more than you were. Because I bet you anything that Xena has eaten more than one bat in her past. And used it's claws to pick her teeth afterwards. I bet she's as known and feared in bat mythology as she is in Norse mythology. That Demon from Chin. Umm, a typical Kiwi burger would have a hamburger pattie, lettuce, quite often a slice of beetroot, maybe a sprinkling of onions, a slice of tomato, and maybe a couple of other green veggies - and, if it was an eggburger, yes, egg as well. It would also (much to my eternal disgust) typiclally be smothered in tomato sauce (ketchup to you people). I used to like Hawaiian burgers. Tomato sauce does *not* 'go' with pineapple! I used to have a running battle with Kiwi burger bar chefs who instictively reached for the sauce bottle - "No sauce!" I'd yell out at the critical moment - "Whassat mate?" they'd ask, simultaneously going SPLURRRRRRT with disgusting orange-brown effluent all over my burger. Then they'd try to scrape it off (I kid you not). Have you ever tried to scrape tomato sauce _off_ something? I now get my burgers from an Asian-immigrant-run food bar who always get it right ;) cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Well in the early days, a number of fans used to talk about Gabrielle's chipmunk cheeks. (Not me--I was too shy to post then.) ANYTHING can be connected to XWP. Some small observations. I enjoyed all the commentaries and I found ROC's commentary on De Ja Vous particularly interesting. It's fun to listen to a novice director discuss her experiences. This episode was not one of my favorites but I though ROC sis a good job directing it - mainly I just don't like Harry, Annie, and Mattie. Ren said she worked out a lot of psychological motivation for the characters but never discussed them with Lucy or Ted. That's a shame - I think it would have given the characters a little more humanity and maybe made them more tolerable. Lucy's Annie wasn't bad but Ted's Harry was just a miserable so and so. He said he just played "Xena" as mean which I think was a bad choice. Xena isn't mean she's just abrupt with people. Also ROC didn't understand why people were upset when Harry hit Annie. Although he certainly has to stop Annie from her plan to disarm the bomb I believe ROC failed to understand that people dislike seeing women hit - especially women who seem harmless or even foolish. Yes Annie was Joxer and Joxer was often hit and knocked about Gabrielle but Xena never hit Joxer, except in Sacrifice when it was part of the plan. That was a bad choice - if Mattie had hit Annie that would have been another matter - that would continued the Gabby and Joxer dynamic and if Harry had objected to Annie getting socked that would have made him more heroic. When you pair a smart man with a dumb woman you have be careful about the dynamics - in Burns and Allen, George never treated Gracie badly but always with bemused affection. It's too bad we couldn't have seen a bit of that with Annie and Harry after all they were married or at least a committed couple.
