Bruce Campbell and Karl Urban would also be nice. :) And Vicky Pratt! It sure wouldn't be the same if Hudson, Bruce, Ted,Tim, etc. weren't there celebrating with us, not to mention the WP herself, Lucy. I hope they can make it. > > Also, it's nice to see that Claire is coming. I know at one time she had retired from the conventions. They love the genre. I think of horror films in the same vein as a good roller coaster ride. It's a safe way to be scared silly. People love the feeling of danger and excitement and horror films allow them experience that without actually being in danger. Probably the cave men sat around the campfire scaring them selves with stories about things that go bump in the night, CherylA ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Check the statistics of > number of people killed by silly little Saturday Night Specials vs the number > killed by heavy automatic weapons and you'll see what I mean.... Well don't come to the USA. In many states, including mine, it's quite easy to get a permit to carry a gun. I believe you merely have to go the sheriff's office and apply and if you don't have a criminal record and the sheriff likes you you get one. Now it's probably much harder in the cities to get a permit but in rural PA it's not that hard. In fact I worked with a guy who always carried a gun in his car for no apparent reason than he wanted to. > > Actually, for robbing a bank, I think I'd choose a repeating shotgun over > anything else. A far more terrifying weapon at close quarters. Yes a friend of mine lives in the country and is in her 60s and wanted a gun to protect herself. I advised her to get a security shotgun - you really don't really need to aim it and the sound of the round being chambered actually will scare robbers off or so I am told. > > > > One question which Michael Moore asked in 'Bowling for Columbine' was, why > the US murder rate is so high. We know a lot about guns. The fact that even I, a middle aged accountant, know about security shotguns and that a 60 year old woman is shopping for a gun is rather sacry isn't it. Perhaps we find guns our first defence in any situation. I don't know. CherylA > > cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
