Yes, Xena's "core" was susceptible to violence and misuse of power, but that's not necessarily a result of the need for action you mention. Aiden of course played on Xena's guilt and passions -- perhaps even manipulating her violent visions as he had her perception of her wound. In the end, Aiden was shown to be the true evil, which would have triumphed without Xena's basic ("base") core and instincts. A positive result of what might've been pure evil under other circumstances. Gabrielle's serenity or "goodness" would've produced negative results, or at least done nothing in defense against Aiden's evil. I guess I'm saying I didn't take Aiden's words -- or even Gabs' or Xena's initial susceptibility to them -- as TPTB saying Xena's core was evil. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I went back and had a careful listen at the time and that's about what I recall hearing. (I'd forgotten that). I'm not at all sure what RT meant by it, though. The normal implication is that 'it' didn't 'work' in XWP, but that's a rather unflattering thing to say of Kathryn Morris, Alex Tydings and Bob Trebor (and, I'm fairly sure, not something RT would say about his guest stars anyway). Besides, Alex Tydings for one certainly 'worked' well on screen and I'm sure RT thought so too, since they kept using her. So I think he must have meant it some other way.
