So Amarice really *was* a genuine Amazon all the time! I *knew* there was something bogus about that old crone in 'Them Bones' who called Amarice a fake. Obviously she didn't know her Amazon history very well. cr ... Amarice fan ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Nigla is brilliant, but the credit for Amarice actually goes to Jane Holland who took over as the costume designer in season 4 when Lord of the Rings snagged Nigla. BATTLE ON XENA! This woman who seems to have inexhaustible curiosity and energy is probably at an age when most people are retired. She and her colleague, Dr. Yoblonsky, are probably the best examples of how to stay young. They are fascinated by the world around them. Kimball-Davis finds everyone she meets fascinating - be they renown DNA experts to Mongol nomads. She is a remarkable woman. I've now been working at national laboratories (in a support capacity) for nearly a decade. In my experience, this sort of behavior is quite common among successful scientists. After all, anyone who is successful puts a great deal of effort into their work. In the case of scientists, it is the quest for explanations that motivates. It isn't always obvious to the rest of us why particular questions are so fascinating, but I think that is often simply because we haven't spend the time pondering those questions and so do not as fully appreciate the ramifications. The case of Kimball-Davis bridges those two worlds (inside and outside the science involved) for those of us so fascinated by Xena because we do have an inkling of the significance (albeit with a bit of a twist of our own). It seems to me an insight we ought to cherish. Lynn Ribaud ribaud@anl.gov ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
