I know she's got a whole lot of faith in Xena's escaping abilities, but if Xena told her the whole truth, Gabs would know Xena didn't look like she could or even intended to hop off that cross. I suppose saying "you've saved me before" could've been Gabs' form of a pep talk. Or maybe she didn't want to give credence to Xena's apparent predicament, any more than she wanted to dwell on her own. Gabs could talk about how she wanted to treat the vision -- and be treated -- in terms of herself, but maybe left it to Xena to feel what she wanted about her own death. > > There is the line in Endgame where Gabs says to Xena "You put them on > _crosses_!" as if there's some special significance to that. So I think > she does know, else why the emphasis. > Oh, I thought that could refer Xena's past history with crosses (e.g., "You of all people would use crosses?!") or to the brutality of crosses period. I didn't even connect it to the vision, though I could understand that. But it still doesn't suggest to me that she's aware of Xena's supposed future on a cross. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. As I said, my own view is that she might've neglected to tell Gabs for a variety of reasons. It would make perfect sense to me and certainly not be out of character. I watched "Ides" today, and at the beginning, Xena tells Amarice the vision had Gabs in, but makes no mention of herself. My question above was more because that would've been a perfect time for Xena to mention herself. I mainly wondered if maybe I'd missed some indication that Xena had told Gabs. If no one else got the impression she told Gabs, do folks think it was intentional for dramatic purposes? Because it might throw in an unnecessary complication, because Gabs might be forced to react to it, thereby taking the focus off Xena's angst? Simply an oversight? Assumed that we wouldn't need to have it spelled out or notice it? That it wasn't an important enough point to worry about? - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Though actually, given the choice, I would rather have heard Jennifer Sky talk about one of the earlier eps, simply because (IMO) Amarice was at her best early on. In Them Bones she didn't have a lot to do. Similarly, of course, *the* ep for Claire would have to have been Sin Trade 1 or 2. However, it's not too late for Claire, maybe they can get her for Send in the Clones (hint hint. Aside from Eli getting killed, not an awful lot happened in that ep. Oh, yes, Xena and Gabrielle had a falling-out over Eli's death, and that wasn't really fun either. > > - IIRC, it was > > almost a bottle show. Well, Rose McIver had a good fight scene in that :) Or Seeds? Like, 'Herc's stepmother Hera hates him, and so does Ares' - that's about all you need to know. So if one just regards the Herc characters as walk-on guest stars (like Najara or Archangel Michael) then it works perfectly well, plot-wise. Though I suppose Hera actually had the good lines in that ep, rather than Xena, for a change. > > Amphipolis Under Siege which is certainly the best of the > > mid-season eps, got *NOTHING* > > This deserves better. Yes, how *about* it! But who will give it to us? Who's a starter for an expedition to kidnap RJ and Vicki and Claire and tie them up in front of a VCR and not let them go until they've done one? ;) Umm, Vicki and Claire.... the volunteers will need to be very large people > > Motherhood - I'm just so pleased that one got a commentary, > > So I'm more than happy that one got the full works. > > And the director's cut may have the extra scenes that were filmed, but not > included in the funal version. > > Ann Well yes, that's what we hope of director's cuts. The sad thing is, that it presumably won't be a proper 'director's cut' as we usually understand the term, and as we got on the Friend in Need DVD, simply because none of the eps (except FIN) was filmed with a Director's Cut in mind. So the extra scenes will be interesting to watch, but they can't be integrated into the episode the way DC scenes usually are. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
