I happen to do some African drumming, so can identify with this particular "I must keep my teeth in the pant leg until it comes off" analysis of yours. I was already going to check out the early drumming in Sin Trade because of one commentator's (Sears?) mention of wanting to have drums in there for its close association with shamans.
