(FIN-haters note, this is not an endorsement of your position - a sad story does not equate to a bad story!). A large part of my feelings, though, was end-of-series sadness - the knowledge that (in my case) there would never be any more videotapes in the mailbox. That would have left me sad anyway. As for Xena dieing - I had mixed feelings. In a way, it gave a sense of completion - that we'd seen the end of the story. If she'd walked off into the sunset, like Herc and Iolaus did, there'd be the feeling that she was having more adventures next week that we'll never get to see because the information has been lost forever. And, it was by her own choice, and in a good cause. It would have been different, more unsettling, if Xena had died unintentionally by enemy action. In a way, TPTB had it both ways - the only way Xena was ever going to be killed (i.e. defeated) was facing overwhelming odds in battle - and, the only way Xena was ever going to die was if _she_ chose to. Well, she managed to accomplish both. Just IMO. > As for Gabs, I > saw AFIN more as the season ender (or beginning) in terms of her story. > But you're probably right, in that neither ST or AFIN elevated the > relationship in quite the same way as they did the two characters as > individuals. > > -- Ife I didn't say that, actually, but I do agree with the point. Of course, that's fine with me (probably one reason I like the eps...) cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
