Indeed, the word amazon comes from the Greek, meaning "without breast". Tales of fierce female fighters dot history. Are they myth from male-dominated societies on the evil of female rule, or fact, as recent archaeological finds suggest? The first Out Of The Closet (Repeat Friday at 8 PM) talks about changing attitudes about homosexuality. Liz Friedman is interviewed and talks about how Xena flies under the radar of most people but obviously not all. There is a good five minute discussion of the show. The second is "Maids, Babes, and Mothers" about the changing roles of women in TV. Again Liz Friedman is interviewed about Xena and Josh Whedon says that Xena has never been given the credit it deserves as a groundbreaking piece of TV. It is very obvious thatJosh was a Xena fan. Buffy is mentioned as evolving from Xena. So far the series has been interesting. Maids, Babes and Mothers repeats Monday at 8 PM. Steven Sears hasn't been interviewed yet.
