By the gods!  I got my Xena kit, only a few days after receiving my Chakram 
#24 newsletter.  I flipped through Chakram #25 to see the photos, figuring I'd 
read it after I'd finished #24.  Lo and behold, what do I come across but that 
incredibly convoluted discussion some of us had awhile back about defining 
TATMLM ("There Are Thousands More Like Me") moments, which evolved into an even 
longer discussion of the chaky.  It has comments from a bunch of us -- me, KT, 
cr, Meredith, Ann Reddecliffe, Cheryl Ande, Cousin Liz (PG-13-rated 
contribution), Dan Miller, and "S" (Susan?).  I remember Sharon asked us for permission 
to do that, but I figured she'd come to her senses before actually publishing 
it.  Heh.

The 8-page section is titled, "Personality Traits, Pschoanalysis and 
Spirituality of the Chakram, Pre- and Post-Redemption."  I initially cracked up at 
what I thought was Sharon's attempt to give a tongue-in-cheek hi-brow spin to our 
endless nattering.  I gasped later on, when I realized she'd taken the title 
from my own rather sarcastic remark about all the human qualities Some People 
were giving the chaky.  But, then, I laughed a lot during the whole thing.  

I don't see that Sharon 'splained in the newsletter where this whacky group 
of people came from.  Probably just as well.   I've gotta say, it sure does 
represent the heights -- and depths -- of some of our more ...  mind-boggling ... 
discussions.  But you know, overall I'm proud of our group's contribution to 
impressions of XWP fandom.  Yeah, it's obvious we may ourselves be in need of 
some therapy, in terms of what we spend our time obsessing about.  However, we 
do manage to explore some serious subjects (e.g., free will, 
self-responsibility, humanity and the things we see as extensions of ourselves, the hero's 
journey, the connections between "science" and "spirituality" in the mythical, 
different perspectives on good and evil, the mysteries of the holding power of 
cleavage <g>, to name a few), without taking ourselves too seriously.

I love that there's so much back and forth, poking fun at each other and 
ourselves, but no rancor and lots of building on each other to come up with some 
nice insights.  Nobody's got some ax to grind or spewing negativity.  It gives 
a sense of why some of us still explore seemingly exhausted or nitpicky 
elements to grapple with both age-old and contemporary issues.  A nice balance of 
nuttiness and intelligence.  My hat's off to Sharon for coming up with the idea 
to reprint our discussion and for her choice of what to publish.  I do enjoy 
the discussions and people on this list.  Having a bit of that immortalized in 
an official publication is unexpected icing on the cake.  Kinda gives me  
goosebumps.

- --*Huh*?!?  _What_ blond highlights?!?  And I don't think my eyes are as
bad as _yours_ m'dear??  I didn't see any blond highlights at all in the
interviews post-Xena (Hot Ticket, Leno, Conan, Kinnear)??

We've all seen her brownish hair before ("mouse-brown" as she described to
Maty on Mike & Maty) on the other things LL did pre-Xena (Rainbow Warrior,
Peach, etc.), so it wasn't surprising to see it in Amazon Women, at least
to me. ;)


We all get *old*, ya know.....;P

- --Ya know, I wasn't really aware of Xena fans not liking Quest at the
time.  I remember it was *controversial* because of the kiss, so for that
very reason (but not necessarily mine) I'd've thought Xena fans would've
liked it just as much as Gab fans??

But even though there was little X in terms of her *actual* presence, I
think TPTB did a *great* job of having her "ghost" there and her overall
"spirit" there for the ep.  I more than felt I had my Xena fix from that
ep.

I think it goes to show that a large part of my attraction to the show is
not only because of LL's acting skills, but because of the iconic nature
of the character.  I *loved* BC being X and ROC being X almost as much as
I enjoyed LL being X.

Also, the S/M factor got a big shot in the arm from MClarke, don'tcha think?! ;)

IMO, Quest was a well-written, well-acted ep that advanced the X
chronicles and her mission in life. ;)

I also liked Amphipolis Under Siege, which I know a lot of fans didn't
like (especially for the tin-foil cossies ;=/ ).  But I loved the
Athena/Ares conflict and especially the *hot* scenes between Ares/X.....;)
