Lucy once talked about how hard that was in terms of being "down" at the time, the weather and missing ROC. I personally think all that contributed to her performance in that very angsty storyline. I'd love to hear her own observations, especially if she can remember what was going on in her head at the time. > > And of course there has to be a commentary on Ides of March. Lucy cracks me up talking about Xena as though she were a totally different person -- e.g., about ADITL, after Xena's used Gabby's scrolls for toilet paper, and Lucy laughs, saying something about "Oh, look! She's looking down" like she she knows she's messed up. > > The above eps are the only 'must have' ones in S4 so far as I'm concerned. > > It'd be good to do Endgame as well, as the lead-in to Ides. I'd definitely pick one of the India ones (including the precursor, "Paradise Found." Except maybe "The Way," because so much has been said about it already. I'd like to hear ROC and LL talk about "Devi" because it's such a good example of the role reversals (i.e., Lucy/Xena reacting to ROC/Gabs) indicative of S4, as well as how ROC approached playing Tataka. I personally think she let Tataka play out some unresolved hostility Gabs had toward Xena. I think there are any number of great eps to talk about (e.g., "Crusader"/"Convert"/ Najara, "A Family Affair"). However, since we didn't get to hear them talk about BS, I'd like suggest another atypical one like "A Tale of Two Muses" or "If The Shoe Fits." I'd like "Lyre" for that reason in S5, but I get the feeling I'm in a minority in terms of really loving "Lyre." > > Season 5 - working backwards, for no particular reason except I thought of > 'Motherhood' first :) > > Motherhood, of course. Frankly, I'm not sure whay Tydings could say that would be worth the time to me, even though I have a very high regard for her work. > > Looking Death in the Eye is another sure-fire favourite that demands > attention. >> Another favorite of mine. I'm curious as to whether that was too ambitious, so they backed off some ideas, or if what we saw was what they intended. There's also a sense of setting up Amarice more, which of course got short-circuited later because of other productions. Anyway, if there's more background from RT in particular, in terms of something he was trying to establish for the series, I'd be interested. Or, if Lucy had some comments about her approach to playing "cleansed" Xena. Otherwise, I could pass on it. > > > And I suppose we're bound to get a lot of stuff on Fallen Angel. *Not* one > > of my favourite eps, the biblical FX left me cold, but it did have several > great moments in it, mostly to do with Callisto. Lots of questions about whether Gabs truly saw Xena as unsalvageable, so was cool with the WP spending eternity in little pieces. Also, what was Devil Xena's continuing focus on Gabs about? Was Gabs merely a conquest? A playmate? Was there still some genuine love for her? > > How about that lot for starters? > Not bad in my view, if for slightly different reasons. I wouldn't mind Xenastaff getting to pick eps they wanted to say something about, that were memorable to them for some reason. We might learn how "Fishsticks" came about, or how Lucy, ROC and Adrienne decided how they would respond to each from one situation to the next, or what it was like for the actress who played Lao Ma's daughters, or what went into putting "Lyre" together, or how they came up with the kinds of eps to deal with Lucy's pregnancy. Maybe a brief scene from the eps could be played that would illustrate a particular point. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Now, one of my favorite series is Stargate SG-1. I don't know where it shows outside the United States, but they are in their seventh season here. A favorite because it combines some of my favorite issues: Science fiction; mythology. One of my favorite scenes in a not-always-favorite episode of Xena was when they had Xena whistling the show's theme song in . Tonight, on Stargate, in the middle of an elevator ride with Colonel O'Neill, Major Carter started humming the theme song to the Stargate SG-1 show. I just broke up in hysterics. A friend of mine swore they stole the idea from Xena. Lilli ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Just in case y'all needed to know.... :) cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. She's looking down" like she she knows she's messed up. Well, for Lucy, it may be her first time to sit down and seriously watch some of these episodes. So she will (presumably) have seen some of the 'rushes', but of course that was a long time ago. She probably doesn't know which shots the director/editor selected to go in the final cut. (snip) > I think there are any number of great eps to talk about (e.g., > "Crusader"/"Convert"/ Najara, "A Family Affair"). However, since we didn't > get to hear them talk about BS, I'd like suggest another atypical one like > "A Tale of Two Muses" or "If The Shoe Fits." I thought of mentioning 'If the Shoe Fits'. I found it fascinating (and highly amusing) how each character's version of Cinderella was slanted to their viewpoint. I didn't mention it because I wasn't sure that they'd have a lot to add in the commentary, in the way of background, though I suppose Lucy's comments as an observer could be amusing. > I'd like "Lyre" for that > reason in S5, but I get the feeling I'm in a minority in terms of really > loving "Lyre." I think 'Lyre' is reasonably well thought of. Musically, there were only a couple of songs I really cared for, but I loved Amoria (Gillian Iliana Walters). Hmm, I'd love to jear Lucy's comment (or explanation) about the little cameo with Gabs' go-go dress in the end credits (snip) > > How about that lot for starters? > > Not bad in my view, if for slightly different reasons. I hadn't mentioned Purity / Back in the Bottle, but if they could get Marie Matiko for a commentary / interview, I'd love to see that. I thought she did a fantastic job, and it wasn't till I saw the credits that I even suspected that Pao Ssu and Kao Hsin were the same actor. Re interviews, I'm not sure what form these interviews take, but as a suggestion, would it be possible to show a brief clip from the episode then have the actor comment on it? And repeat a few times. Sort of illustrate the actor's comments. I think it might work well with the Marie Matiko interview I just suggested. > or what went into putting "Lyre" together, or > how they came up with the kinds of eps to deal with Lucy's pregnancy. I'm a Farscaper. It's my No 1 series equal with Xena, in fact. I started watching simply because Claudia was in it. Now I'm addicted, and it isn't just because of Claudia, it's many other characters too. Amusingly enough, in Season 4, Aeryn (Claudia) gets pregnant - I haven't yet found how that turns out. NOBODY TELL ME OR THEY DIE! And Moya (their ship) also got pregnant. Now that's a first. Maybe 'Xena' started yet another trend.....
