The merchandise folks ought to give you a percentage of the "take," as the extras will no doubt keep the XWP spirit alive far more than simply being able to see sharp copies of eps we've watched and rehashed countless times. I've got my fingers crossed that they listen to you for the rest of the releases. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Really? Where were IGN hiding when FIN aired? But anyway, while we're nitpicking, is there a commentary for Maternal Instincts, the most awesome (IMO) episode of Season 3? There is no commentary but there is a 7 minute 52 second interview featurette with Sears, Friedman, Gruendemann, O'Connor, Leick, etc. discussing the episode. > If not, I guess Sacrifice goes partway to make up for it ;) Sacrifice was done up a lot. The extended and deleted scenes come from Sacrifice II, there is a featurette on the episode and commentary on both episodes by Leick, with two 7 minute interviews with Sears, Friedman, Lawless, O'Connor, etc. If you are into Sacrifice, then you will have a Sacrificepalooza. > Hey, I think I just found a new Xena pastime. That's good. I would have liked to hear from Lucy on her excellent performance in the ep - as always the Xena - Callisto confrontation is the highlight of the ep for me - but I suppose we can't have everything :) > > Hey, I think I just found a new Xena pastime. Second-guessing what > > should have been on the S3 DVD sets 8) > > You should start second guessing on the S4 & S5 ones and help me out here! > > Kym Umm, (still in nitpick mode) - can't second-guess something till after it's happened. :) OK - I'll start the ball rolling. Bear in mind the only Xena commentary I've heard so far is the FIN one. What I have observed (in commentaries on other series DVD's) is that the quality of an actor's commentary is not always related to the significance of their part. In other words, some actors can be dead boring and others can be informative and fascinating to listen to. Director's commentaries are usually fairly good because they can always talk about 'how we shot that scene' or 'why we did it this way'. Season 4 - *Most definitely* a director's commentary on Sin Trade (both parts), by T J Scott. Failing that, RT (if he was there). There must have been some heroic work by the crew on those 'Land of the Dead' scenes. If you can get Lucy to join in (and / or Claire) in the fashion of FIN, then so much the better. Also maybe an interview with LoDuca about the music for that ep (it's the one I rate highest for musical score in the whole series). And of course there has to be a commentary on Ides of March. Lucy, and/or Hudson (and I expect the Gabfans will demand ROC :). The above eps are the only 'must have' ones in S4 so far as I'm concerned. It'd be good to do Endgame as well, as the lead-in to Ides. I expect Gabfans might like to hear ROC's thoughts on how the 'Way of Peace' fitted in with encouraging the troops to fight. (No I'm not being sarcastic here :) - that was a difficult time for Gabs.) Personally I'd also like to hear from Jennifer Sky on Amarice. The rest of the Season 4 eps - well, I'll let others who liked S4 better nominate their preferences. Season 5 - working backwards, for no particular reason except I thought of 'Motherhood' first :) Motherhood, of course. It would be interesting to hear RT on the subject of killing off the Greek gods. And maybe some words from Alex Tydings on Aphrodite playing a serious role for a change. (Aphrodite sure 'grew up' in the time between The Apple / For Whom The Bell Tolls and Motherhood). Looking Death in the Eye is another sure-fire favourite that demands attention. Anthony & Cleopatra - a director's commentary from Michael Hurst. That was a 'director's ep' if ever there was one, especially the scenes in the palace. Cool, unhurried, yet with a hint of things going on behind the scenes. Lifeblood (/Amazon High) I guess a few comments from RT about the original Amazon High would be of interest. Actually, what would be even more interesting would be the full Amazon High pilot. How about that as an extra? Or sold separately, I'd still buy it just for interest. Amphipolis Under Siege - lotta interesting things in that ep. (Don't really want to know about the costume design for Athena's tinfoil army, though :) I keep wanting to suggest "Commentary by Kevin Smith" (even more so in Season 6), he's tragically missed. God Fearing Child - (and I know a lot of Xebnasnobs don't like this one :) - but I'd like to hear from RT on how they decided to revive and terminate the Herc series on a Xena ep. By killing off Zeus and Hera, no less. Be interesting to hear from Meg Foster, if available. Chakram - a minor ep but one of my minor favourites, so I'll give it a mention. And I suppose we're bound to get a lot of stuff on Fallen Angel. *Not* one of my favourite eps, the biblical FX left me cold, but it did have several great moments in it, mostly to do with Callisto. So a commentary / interview with Hudson is a must for that one. How about that lot for starters? cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I *know for a fact* that I am not the only one out there who would pay full price plus more for the season 5 set if it had the full "Amazon High" pilot as an extra. I sincerely hope with every ounce of Xenite within me that this can somehow happen. (Just think -- the Farscapers would be interested in it too, since Claudia Black was also involved... :) =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
