Quick and to-the-point. Autolycus' "I paid for an hour" to Velasca is a *classic*. ;) >This time around, I much more enjoyed listening to other's impressions of >Xena -- watching how Autolycus and Gabs expressed Our Girl when she was >inside them. How they imitated X's mannerisms concretized in my mind how iconic her character really was. ;) >Gabs grew up in that ep, and I grew to respect her more because of the >way she handled herself when she thought she'd have to live without Xena. >The Gabs I watched this morning was very much like the one I saw at the >end of AFIN. - --Agreed. X _really_ died in this ep, so this was all a foreshadowing of AFIN; when AFIN aired, X's death was the only logical ending, IMO. - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... There are a good 30 minutes of deleted or expanded scenes that are presented in as a separate feature on disc 8. It's a shame a lot of them couldn't have been included in the episode. Here's are a couple of my favorites: 1. In the scene where Callisto finds out that Hope and Ares had hooked up. Callisto does a bit more damage to Ares temple but most interesting she also says something insulting about Gabrielle. Hope quickly tells her not to insult her mother and that Gabrielle had a purpose to serve just as Ares has. I liked this scene simply because it shows that Hope really does have some kind of feelings for Gabrielle whether we can call it affection I don't know but there is a kind of allegiance there. 2. Ares after being with Hope goes to have a chat with Dahak. He comments that Hope is, I think he calls it, enthusiastic. Dahak roars his disapproval obviously even demons don't like to hear about their daughter's sex life. (Apparently there were scenes shot where Dahak is featured as a flame that roars a lot). 3. There is an expanded scene where Callisto meets Xena and Gabrielle on the road and the deal is struck between them for Callisto to help them. Callisto mentions Solan and gets a sock in the chops from Xena and Callisto however is phlegmatic about that. Then as Gabrielle tries to convince Xena to accept Callisto's help, Callisto cheers her on with giddy enthusiasm. 4. The campfire scene between Callisto and Xena is expanded. Callisto once again talks about Solan and tells Xena that when Xena killed her family she lost the capacity for love and happiness but she did have hate and revenge. When Solan died she didn't feel anything just a profound loneliness. Now she doesn't even have hate any more and that's why she needs to die. At the end Xena says she understands. Xena then feels Ares and goes to leave Cellisto says "Now we have bonded." Xena flatly says "no." Callisto appears unsurprised. There are lot more scenes featured. It looks like TPTB are really rooting around looking for lost footage. You can why some scenes didn't make. Some scenes are pretty rough and aren't properly scored. One scene where Hope is looking for the Hinds blood dagger is score and cut so badly that it appears ludicrous - it's just over the top. In the episode it was simplified and came off much more effectively. CherylA ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. The journey of Sam and Frodo was not unlike that of Xena and Gabrielle. In fact, I don't think I have felt as broken hearted at a movie since AFIN. And while both their journeys were heroic, it was the love they had for each other that endured all. And the lesson in both, was that no matter how much we love, sometimes we must let our beloved friends go and we must be strong and go on for their sake and our own. As Gandolf said to Froto, it is not up to us to wish for a different course, but the only thing to decide is what to do with the time we are given. When Gabrielle is on the balcony after Xena goes after the Lyre, Gabs tells Joxer she will be right back and heads downstairs. The shot moves to an overhead shot as Gabs (her double actually) starts across the courtyard. A few steps and look to Gabs left....you cannot miss it. Of course I missed it numerous times before it was mentioned in this list!!! If you can slo-mo as G walks into the courtyard that is the best way to catch it.
