Guess we know one of the new year's resolutions you *didn't* make, you bad girl. > > > I learned to enjoy the Gabs/Joxer/Ares/Dite > >scenes during which I was supposed to forget Xena wasn't there. > > > > Can I help it if your light no longer burns so bright? If you're fickle? > If you lower your standards? That's YOUR problem, not mine. >> Nope, my light burns brighter than ever. Like I said, I grew -- which means my light could encompass more than it did before, without lessening anything. In fact, my appreciation for my Main Girl expanded, as I saw more aspects of her through the eyes of other characters and felt her presence even when she wasn't there. You know, it's so ironic I'd see this post today. I'm at home because of the Martin Luther King holiday. It's freezing outside, so I decided to have some oatmeal and enjoy my breakfast watching a Xena ep. I happened to pick "The Quest." It's still fairly fresh for me because it's one that I hadn't watched 100 times. Surprising, eh? I remember how impatient I was the first time around, trying to satiate my Xena fix with voice-overs and images of ghost Xena. How absolutely thrilled I was when they opened that coffin. How I grew to love Gabs tenderly feeding that ambrosia to Xena's amazingly well preserved and unstiff corpse, expressing my own emotions as she waited breathlessly for some sign of life. This time around, I much more enjoyed listening to other's impressions of Xena -- watching how Autolycus and Gabs expressed Our Girl when she was inside them. It truly was masterful how they worked around Lucy's accident. Gabs grew up in that ep, and I grew to respect her more because of the way she handled herself when she thought she'd have to live without Xena. The Gabs I watched this morning was very much like the one I saw at the end of AFIN. > > Actually, I don't DECIDE to only notice Lucy. My torch for the Warrior P > burns with a blinding purity that cannot be denied. (Not even > sub-consciously.) >> LOL! Understood. I was probably worse, in that I *consciously* fast-forwarded, knew I hadn't watched the whole ep and didn't care. That's probably why I picked them to review later on, as I was curious about what I'd maybe missed. > Seriously, I do enjoy almost all of the other characters on XWP and do not > begrudge them their time in the spotlight. However, watching those characters > is like watching any other television character I like. >> Yep, I admit my extra interest in them is only because of Xena. I remember how desperately afraid I was that Lucy's accident would prevent her returning as Xena -- or at least to the same extent as before. At the time, I wasn't as involved on the internet, so wasn't sure what to make of the Xena-lite eps -- especially the ones where she was trapped in Callisto's body. > > But watching Lucy as Xena is a transcendant experience for me. (As one who PAID ATTENTION would realize > from my post mentioning that I honestly believed I had watched that whole > ep all the way through.) >> Okay, okay. I got ya. I'm only laughing to myself because I remember discussions where I wondered if we'd watched the same ep. It hadn't occurred to me that maybe all you saw was the Xena parts. Again, the same would be true for me, except I was aware that I hadn't PAID ATTENTION, in this case to most Xena-lite eps, so I had to go back and watch them, when other posters mentioned stuff I hadn't recalled. > And my brother in law said, "HEY! I will never again doubt your love for him or question your capacity for forgiveness. Or the saving grace of humor. > > > >Or, you could remain unevolved and keep ignoring the Lucylite eps. You just keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile, I'll continue to find wonderful things in the Lucy/Xenalite eps (I originally had problems with the lookalikes) *and* the Lucy/Xena scenes, where I might see something like that funny fingernail. Which reminds me .... I still have to go back to "Girls Wanna Have Fun," to see if I can find that propane tank you mentioned. I'm wondering if it's a scene I fast-forwarded through or was too focused on what Xena was doing. Tsk tsk. Another reminder that I'll never kick the habit. Heh. << KT STILL 99.99% pure >> - -- Ife STILL getting the most I can out of the 1% that isn't "pure" ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
