But with regards to the *clarity* of how the character was played, I disagree. IMO, ROC still played Gab's intentions far more clearly and forcefully than LL played Kate's intentions. ;P >Okay, *that* I understand. No development of that side of her character, as far as I could see. Just not well-done at all. ;( >> --Jackie (to whom agreeing to disagree is looking better and better ;) ) > >Anytime, m'dear. Surprising how much I didn't know. ;P This seemed to be the best site: http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/How-to-tell-the-origin-of-an-accent It noted that Christopher Plummer was an exemplar of a mid-Atlantic accent, and it also said that "American actors and announcers used to speak with a Mid-Atlantic accent, which was an affected hybrid of educated American and British accents", which is how I'd describe Plummer's stage accent (and Chamberlain's, etc.). Not exactly attractive (too snotty-sounding, IMO), and I also don't agree that that was what was being used on XWP. I think on XWP they were actually _trying_ for an American accent, but when actors failed, as long as they were understandable they let it pass. Which is different from their accents actually being "mid-Atlantic", IMO. ;P Just MO, - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ...
