They did that sort of thing several more times on Herc... most notably Lydia, in Pride Comes Before a Brawl (episode 7), which pre-dated Gabs by some time. Played by Lisa Chappell who is probably my favorite occasional Hercules supporting actor (never seen on Xena though). Full of self-confidence, rather assertive, could be irritating - the writers did that type of character quite well. Though I wouldn't call Lydia 'cute', certainly not to her face, she'd probably swat you one. Just by coincidence, Lisa also played a 'lost' (well, kidnapped) princess later on - Melissa in 'War Bride'. With similar qualities (and she irritated the heck out of Iolaus ;). Some may remember Lisa Chappell as Melissa Blake, Rob Tapert's secretary, in 'Yes Virginia, There is a Hercules' and 'For Those of You Just Joining Us'. The conspiratorial looks exchanged between 'Melissa Blake' and 'Liz Friedman' (Hudson) in Yes Virgina are most beautifully done. IMO, that was the best 'clip' show ever in either series (and it has some stiff competition). TPTB seem to have a thing about 'L' names - Lyla, Lydia, Lysia, Lilla.... :) > > > THAT'S why I think Hurst was in there for the few seconds he was. > > > > Well, yes, but it was really a rather pointless walk-on IMO. Does that count Yes and no Depends which way the wind is blowing. Or rather, how one defines 'crossovers'. It wasn't really a major plot thread, any more than Hades cropping up on both Herc and Xena was... more a background thing I guess. Incidentally, talking of Charon, his appearance in You Are There (played by a different actor) had a cross-series reference when he complained about Herc 'never paying his debts'. And in fact this goes right back to Herc Season 2, when Herc persuaded Charon (with much grumbling) to let him run up a tab. 'The Other Side' and 'Highway to Hades'. IIRC Herc said "You know I'm good for it". Apparently he wasn't. I just find it amusing that the writers should have dropped that one in five years later. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Well, to split hairs (as I know you love to do), the only 'real' X & G were in Judgement Day. And Xena in the Herc trilogy of course. You're not alone. There's very little I can read, watch or hear about without it reminding me of XWP in some way. Even worse, I have to remind myself which is the "real" event, which tends to differ a bit from what happened in the Xenaverse. Some eps in particular had biblical references like burning bushes, magi, etc. I won't even get into the crosses, as I don't want Certain Parties to reminded on Unmentionaable Eps. - -- Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. From the little bit shown in a clip in Yes Virginia, I'm not sure I want to see any more of it anyway. (Only cartoon I ever watch is South Park). It's my impression that the cartoon movie doesn't form any part of the plotlines of Herc or Xena, though I could be wrong. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. IMO, can also present itself as "stilted" or "different" if person is "lost". But read Lilli's post again: >>Xena. I remember at the beginning of Xena she was similarly hesitant, >>but yet still got into her character differently, more easily, and was "Hesitant" can mean "lost", IMO. ;P Basically, LL wasn't as clear and focused in her Kate character as she was with X, IMO. - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * JACKIE YOUNG, JYOUNG@LAVA.NET * * * ****************************************************** ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
