It's an unpublished XENA script, titled, "Sticks and Stones." If you'd rather not be spoiled by the following teaser, I suggest you go directly to the WHAT'S NEW page on Cousin Liz's Soulmates site at http://cousinliz.com. She's also debuting a section for my episode reviews, which is why I get to play Senticles. :-) - IfeRae S P O I L E R SPACE Season four confirmed what THE XENA SCROLLS suggested early in XWP - that the lives of Xena and Gabrielle would be linked forever. But what about the past? Did their paths cross before that moment we saw them meet outside Poteidaia? How might their destinies (not to mention the world) have changed, if someone had nipped their soulmate connection in the bud? These are a few of the intriguing questions raised by "Sticks and Stones," an unproduced script set sometime in season six. The story opens with a hint of peaceful domesticity. Xena's apparently taking care of Cyrene's inn, stoically enduring chitchat with the locals. Gabrielle's giving niece Sarah some meditation tips. Next thing Xena knows, Gabrielle has turned into a banshee, while the locals go from gossiping to gangsterism. The WP doesn't see yet what we do - that Gabrielle has problems of her own, primarily an equally banshee-like tall, dark-haired warrior who's unaccountably inhospitable to Gabrielle's mere existence. "Sticks and Stones" careens between what is and what could be, with our girls simultaneously stalking and trying to save each other, racing against time and an old nemesis who would much prefer Xena as a savage than a hero. It has the "feel" of the classic tales that continue online in the Virtual Seasons, offers a different twist on "uber" fanfic initially inspired by THE XENA SCROLLS, as well as augments or gives a new spin to such episodes as BETWEEN THE LINES and WHEN FATES COLLIDE. Certainly a fresh way to get your XWP "fix" before the start of another year re-watching, rehashing and revising the scripts that *did* get aired. Feel free to share this with other lists. - -- IfeRae ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
