Was he an Orc?). Where there any other Xena alumni I missed? BTW the extended version is worth the price. I waited and bought this DVD and I'm glad I did. Jane finally emerges with both a sense of humor and some real smarts. I liked the fact that she knew the system well enough that she was able to save both Tarzan and the poor witness who was trapped by Tarzan's uncle. Kate also now begins to emerge. Lucy finally got to show here sense of humor. In the scene with Jane I liked the fact that she could joke about them being partner's in crime (Jane aided while she abetted). The scene with Richard was also good. You again see Kate's humor and sarcasm emerge and even her somewhat hesitant regard for her brother. She doesn't want her brother killed but you can certainly see her frustration with her brother. I liked the scrawny neck crack and her pronouncing herself a bitch. Even Richard is starting to emerge as a complex character. You really can't tell what his feelings for Tarzan are. I think he actually thought he was doing what was best for his nephew but didn't have the foggiest about how to go about it. Unlike Kate who was willing to stand back and let Tarzan find his own way Richard has to control everything and while Tarzan's refusal to comply infuriates him, he still can't help admiring his resourcefulness. These three characters were finally coming into their own. Sam was always good and was also good in is episode. The problem however is still Tarzan. The character remained one dimensional. He is essentially a dangerous child. He is sweet to those he likes and absolutely homicidal to those he dislikes. You know I have to say I agree with his uncle that the guy isn't safe to be roaming about freely. This guy is just too out of control to be trusted in public. There were however still gapping holes in the plotline. The nurse can't divulge medical information - hasn't anyone heard of HIPPA. What happened to Richard's bodyguard? Was he killed? Why doesn't he or Richard press charges against Tarzan for beating the hell out of him? That certainly would keep Tarzan in jail. So Tarzan gets off on a technicality but that won't stop the rampaging cops from trying to kill him - so why does everyone think Tarzan is out of the woods for killing Michael? (BTW the cops get a pretty bad rap here - - they are shown as vengeful nut cases who seem to be willing to commit murder to avenge one of their own even.) Well the show is over. There was potential here especially with the rivalry between Kate and Richard. Jane might have emerged as an interesting character. I think trying to tie Tarzan to a crime show was an error. TPTB might have been wise to just sticking to the idea of trying to fit an innocent into a complicated world. Jane could have been worked into the plot as a therapist or reporter or even possibly as Richard's ward, which would have made for some interesting conflict. Also something had to done to bring a little dimension to Tarzan's character - Fimmel could have been given more to do. I think he actually was short changed by TPTB who didn't seem to have much faith in his acting ability. Seems to me that that issue is occasionally discussed on the 10 O'clock News. It does happen. Although there might have been a little too much poetic license. But it does bring up a certain parallelism. Both John and 'da cops' are "the good guys". Both get out of control, doing what they think is right. And both are wrong in a wider view. >Well the show is over. There was potential here especially with the rivalry >between Kate and Richard. There was a lot of potential here. However as originally produced, it was a turkey. The hatchet job to make the footage that was shot was inexpertly done. By the time they started shooting new footage to get it on track, whatever chance it had of getting audience share was lost. Besides the WB put it in a lousy time slot. Potential never achived. The final scene of John and Jane walking off barefoot into the sunset typifies the entire series.
