When I called Davis-Panzer about my defective S1 set, that's what they wanted to do. ;( (But if the company's good, they probably won't make you _pay_ a second time.....) So I hadda spend *all my time* re-watching an entire season, just to see if the second set was defective (which was why I was so anxious to see if others had the same probs--if so, the fault would be in the manufacture, so there would be no point in exchanging it again). I *love* the show, but I also value my *time*.....;P - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... I think a logic problem is less likely, but possible, and if that's the case, replacement presumably won't do any good. As a first step, I think I'd try playing it on a different DVD player (if you have a friend with one?) If it gives the same problem on a different model of player, odds are it's the disk that's defective. It will also give you a bit more ammunition in requesting a replacement. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I think I'll have them play the problem DVD at the store, as well as the same disk of the replacement set. If it turns out the problem is with my player, I guess I'm just out of luck. Good thing I have all those other versions as back-up, eh? (Was Re: Yay, I Got My S2 DVDS!) My "bad" DVDs are okay! I can't remember which one of you lovely people suggested cleaning the thing, but it worked! I was all set to trek back to BB and return it, but decided to try that one last thing. I didn't see any fingerprints or smudges (not surprising given my eyesight, as Jackie so helpfully reminded me), but lightly ran a cloth across the disk anyway. I popped it in, fully expecting the same problems. Nope! All the previously bad spots passed nice and smooth. I usually look for the simplest causes for even technical machinery I know little about (e.g., wires loose, wrong button pushed in), but didn't do that in this case. I'm so glad somebody went to the "DVDs for Dummies" level of advice, as it sure saved this dummy some unnecessary time, energy and gasoline. Thanks! - -- Ife (grateful once again for the kindliness and knowledge of Xenafans) ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
