I heartily concur! :) Although for future dvd's it would rock if they could do actual episode commentary tracks *during* the eps...and if they could get interviews/commentary from the *actors* as well that would be even better...but still, these interviews were a delight. And I didn't realize just how darn cool T.J. Scott is (and I've even participated in an online chat w/ him at Xena Palace!). Plus he's married to Vicky Pratt, damn him. :) -Sarah, aka the abbagirl- (who can't wait for Season 2 in September!!) ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I watched the rest of the ep, and it wasn't bad. Mindy played the lead "bad guy", a fallen angel turned siren who seduces married men, then sucks the life out of them as revenge for one of them turning her into a demon (or something like that....??). She had major cleavage exposure time and, of course, lots of make-out time, etc. ;) She plays "bad" so good, it's hard to imagine she actually has a husband and young child at home to care for......;) Just FYI, ;) - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... I remember at the Last Dance Pasadena Con (2nd Pasadena?), TRaimi said he had gradually built up the character on-set by adding accents and bits of people he had known throughout the years to make up the whole character of Jace, and that it wasn't an imitation of only one person. But I think I remember him saying that Jace's feeling of rejection was based on Jace's being an "entertainer" and not having a real "job", rather than on his being gay?? Anyone else have a better recollection of this? - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * "I think New Zealand geographically comes from * * ... I notice they didn't include its dimensions, though it could be about the size of a large postcard. I'm a sucker for most stuff with Xena images, and this has one skinny horizontal picture from each season. Still, my record for resisting such things is probably as good as yours. :-) > didn't realize just how darn cool T.J. Scott is (and I've even > participated in an online chat w/ him at Xena Palace!). Same here. Listening to him and the others, I finally had a true appreciation for what Lucy meant when she talked about the absolute, complete "love" that went into XWP and gave so much credit to others. They in turn talk about her personality held it together on and off screen. It's clear everybody was learning "in process," being innovative, taking risks, looking to others on the team for ideas. The Warrior Princess truly was a colloboratively created character, which Lucy put "soul" in. - - Ife ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I do watch ot fairly consistently and it amazes me how many times there have been XWP tie ins (similar plots but in modern day). For example there was the releasing of Titans recently and when the Charmed ones became goddesses one was Aphrodite and one the goddess of War...at the end one of the sisters asked her how she enjoyed being "warrior princess". Sure makes me miss the real Xena and LL & ROC. C ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. There is so much detail in the eps. Listening to the various directors was so enlightening because hearing their thoughts and impressions brought out many things I had not previously noted or thought of. This is one [of the many, many] reasons I enjoy going back and rewatching eps. There are so many times that someone will post some obscure thing/person/action/object they saw in the background of a scene... it sure doesn't take much! > > *T.J. and others talk about using 16 mm vs. higher resolution in the filming. > They weren't sure what role finances played (as 16 was cheaper), but they > all came to feel it was the right choice for artistic reasons. Something that always caught my eye as far as the "look/feel" of the eps was the use of lighting and texture. I'm not a techie in that area by any means, but there was something in so many of the scenes just grabbed me. Many times it was the way a face [usually Xena's] was half hidden in shadow -- like many of the b&w 40s and 50s movies -- that always seemed to help strengthen the conveyance an emotion or thought . > > *T.J. says they were able to use minimalist sets and tight shots because, > "The audience has more imagination than we have sets." And this was in such contrast to Gabrielle's initial seemingly calm acceptance of Xena's 'death' in 'Greater Good'... at least until she ran out and whupped up on an innocent tree.
