The $60 DVDs advertised at Best Buy and Sun Coast are probably the First Season Anchor DVDs scheduled to come out in April sometime. They are supposedly a different edition than the D-P ones. ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. Hey all...I was wondering, do you folks still go to conventions (Xena or otherwise)? I've still been going to them, although not as many Creation ones lately...(especially since Creation keeps lessening the Xena content/guests/emphasis and combining em with Trek cons, sigh). I think I'm gonna go to the Brooklyn, NY Creation "salute to strong women of sci-fi" one in August, cuz it has HUDSON, Danielle, Claire and Alex so far...I am also *definitely* going to 2 Buffy cons (which will be my first Buffy con experiences! Has anyone been to a Buffy con? Is anyone going to any this year?) very soon, Cleveland Vulkon in April and Flashback Chicago in May. It seems like when I go to cons these days though, it's harder to find my fellow Xenites...and at the Buffy cons I dunno who I'll hang out with, since I'm going alone and I don't really know Buffy fans from online like I do with Xena. Oh well. Anyway, I was just thinking about cons...and wondering how people feel about them nowadays. -Sarah, aka the abbagirl- ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I was just looking through a James Bond site and I was amused to see that Xenafans and Trekkies aren't the only ones to nitpick over little inconsistencies... apparently Bond fans have noticed such trivial details as the fact that Bond, way back in You Only Live Twice mentioned that he'd taken a degree in Oriental Languages, yet 15 years later in Tomorrow Never Dies he couldn't read a Chinese keyboard. How the fans managed to rationalise the much bigger YABI of Bond's frequent changes of body (5 in all so far) wasn't explained. Doctor Who of course had seven IIRC, but he was a Time Lord and needed to regenerate himself periodically. I guess, like the changes in Hades and Hephaestus, it's just one of those things viewers just have to overlook. Didn't Tarzan start the whole actor-changing thing off anyway, many years ago? Incidentally, for any Michelle Yeoh fans on this list, the directors of Tomorrow Never Dies (in their DVD commentary which I was just watching) are full of praise for the way she undertook some of the fairly strenuous and risky action scenes herself. cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. I just went a Sci-Fi con in Seattle at the beginning of this month. FOUR Star Trek: Voyager stars were there: Roxann Dawson, Robert McNeil, Robert Picardo and Ethan Phillips. Kate Mulgrew was supposed to be a guest but her play "Tea at Five" opened in New York during the con, so she had to back out. But I LOVED it! Cons RULE! And this one allowed me to meet my fav director/writer/high up there for best actress, Roxann Dawson, who is just WONDERFUL. Great lady. And cons keep adding new things. I recommend the photo ops! Professional pix of you standing right next to the star! SO COOL! And if they rock as much as Roxann, you get a little bit more of a moment then you do in the autograph lines (although it's been nearly a month and I STILL don't have the picture from Creation...then again, it is Creation). I REALLY wanted to go on the cruise, but I don't trust Creation enough to go on the first. I'd rather hear how it went then try for next year. I would love to hit another Xena con, but the things cost so bloody much. If I lived closer to where all the cons are, I'd go a lot more, but having to pay for plane tickets and hotels makes the cost too much to do it often. BATTLE ON XENA! So I'm watching that movie on the sci-fi channel now, "Riverworld," w/ Kevin Smith....he plays a big badass of course, a warlord. :) His voice sounds really different though, and not just the accent, the whole *voice*...he wasn't dubbed or something, was he?? Hmmm...also, was this filmed in New Zealand? It sure looks like it! And I swear I spotted the guy who played Mauser on "Cleo 2525"...if this is a NZ flick then it might turn into a game of "spot the Xena/Herc actor," that's always fun. ;) Tis cool that it's directed by Alex Proyas! He did "Dark City" and "The Crow"... -Sarah- ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
