[sorry, wasn't really paying attention] ). They talked about how they met because she was the only one who would ride Fishburn's motorcycle when he was still learning. ;) Didn't quite pick up on the rest, sorry..... ;( GTorres sure has come far since being a guest player on HTLJ/XWP....;=) Just FYI, - --Jackie ****************************************************** * Proud to have the same birthday as Lucy Lawless! * * * * JACKIE YOUNG, JYOUNG@LAVA.NET * * * ****************************************************** ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. In that sense she's reverting to Season 1 / 2 Gabrielle, part of whose job description was to get into trouble with the warlord of the week and be rescued by Xena. Only, in S6, Gabrielle has developed enough to have emotional conflicts (which on the whole, in S1/S2, she didn't). cr ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list. What has my attention is the assertion that Gabby wrote the scrolls to Xena's advantage. While this may be true, I think there is another consideration. To Kahina, Xena was a legend. It seems to me that when a person passes into legend and so becomes larger than life, we (a collective, social 'we') start reshaping the story to suit the image we have or wish to have. One clear example, to me, is that of Albert Einstein. Contrary to legend (which legend was already active in his own time), he was neither a poor student nor particularly absent-minded. He was, in fact, very well rooted in every-day reality; this contributed to his being one of the scientists advising Roosevelt to go ahead with the A-bomb project. In addition, recall that Einstein had been a patent clerk -- examiner, in our terms. He was quite at home separating the meaningful from the fallacious. Indeed, he had a few practical patents to his own name. My point is fairly direct here. I winder how much Gabby left out of the scrolls -- and how much Kahina chose to either ignore or interpret in some more benign way than which it had been intended. It is hard for me to imagine telling much of any story about Xena without it becoming clear that to get between her and those important to her would be a risky undertaking, at very best. She's certainly got the talent to back her up. Now that _Firefly_ has bitten the dust, I wonder if we'll be seeing Anna Espinoza's return to ALIAS at some point? Meredith meth@smoe.org Yahoo! It's a prequel to _The Matrix_. No, it's a sequel, isn't it? I thought it was a trilogy...and then the third one comes out this fall, The Matrix Revolutions or something like that. -Sarah- ========================================================= This has been a message to the chakram-refugees list.
